With freedom, flowers, books, and the moon, who could not be perfectly happy?
— Oscar Wilde, De Profundis

Damn this is such a good song let me play it 78 times an hour until i hate it
It is very important to go out alone, to sit under a tree, not with a book, not with a companion, but by yourself and observe the falling of a leaf, hear the lapping of the water, the fishermen's song, watch the flight of a bird, and of your own thoughts as they chase each other across the space of your mind. If you are able to be alone and watch these things, then you will discover extraordinary riches which no government can tax, no human agency can corrupt, and which can never be destroyed.

People in Dark Academia.
The ones who stay up late at night to finish their favourite books, fingers tracing the lines as they whisper the words. The ones who strut the hallways with their head high as if the world was buring behind them. The ones who write in the dark, tears rolling down their cheeks because oh, they feel too much.
realistic academia: balled up paper thrown behind me, notes and textbooks scattered across every flat surface including the floor, snacks get their own chair next to me, a pen that ran out of ink, blanket for comfort, water bottle that I haven’t actually taken a sip out of for the past 4 hours
‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ applies more to people than it does to actual books. Cuz you bet I’m going to look for the prettiest cover edition of a book available when buying it.
Idk bro your horoscope said you belong with me
Jane Austen really said 'I respect the "I can fix him" movement but that's just not me. He'll fix himself if knows what's good for him' and that's why her works are still calling the shots today.
The smell of old books, so sharp, so dry you can taste it. x

I love how the message of Frankenstein isn’t “don’t play god and commit hubristic acts of mad science” but instead “when you commit a hubristic act of mad science you are responsible for parenting whatever comes out of it”
I love it when someone says things like “Would've been more fun if you were here" or "I wish you were here so we could do this and this". It shows that you kinda matter to them to certain degrees, that your existence matters. They mean that your mere presence could have a difference. And what's so subtle yet beautiful than this ?
