Here’s another little-known bat fact:

Orphaned baby bats are often swaddled tightly like teeny burritos to mimic being cuddled by mom and help ease separation anxiety.

They also seem to find pacifiers soothing.

I’m pretty sure I’ve posted on this before, but there’s always someone who hasn’t heard about this before. Plus, I’ll happily take any excuse I can to post cute baby animal pics (especially when they’re wrapped like tiny furry burritos) :)

Paul’s relationship with Ellie is really, really important. He got to know her, he fell in love with her, he kissed her, and then he realised she would never love him back in the way he wanted her to.

He had a perfect opportunity to simply walk away - but he didn’t. He took time to try and understand something about her that he didn’t know, and wasn’t initially comfortable with. And for no personal gain, he just....got over it.

He could have done the “but I’m a nice guy!” thing because, well, he is a nice guy. And that’s exactly why he didn’t. Because he actually IS a nice guy, and nice guys realise that they are not automatically entitled to someone else just for being so.

He didn’t sulk. He didn’t get mad at her. He didn’t make her feel guilty. He didn’t change the way he thought of her. And he continued to love her, but for exactly who she is.

I always think a good movie can be judged by simply asking “Are the characters better (or changed) for the experience?” And, undeniably, Ellie and Paul are better versions of themselves because of each other by the time the film ends.

The Half Of It isn’t a love story, but it is a story about love.
