don't complain, it's the price of fame. "I am the cover of the magazine, what a scene, They know my every do's “Just sign your name on the dotted line, you'll be fine.” That always bothers me Get in your car, you wanna take a ride, look behind, someone is following you. You try to get away, you turn real fast, but too bad They know your every move!"
Getting thrown out of a hotel your parents own is so embarrassing. The manager did not care who I was, just asked security to escort me out of the building. Don’t know what I did to deserve that. If you have a bar in the hotel, you will have to deal with drunk people. That’s just common sense.
But for you to always win, doesn’t that mean I have to always lose?
I don’t want you to always lose. Especially when you just brought up engagement being about compromise and ours is not. Is that really what you think of our relationship?
To Dani’s response, Gaby just nodded along, figuring it was a good point to drop the topic. She didn’t even have to admit that she was scared of the other girl’s twin sister; everyone knew it already. Which was why she hadn’t discussed Cassie and Jayce’s problems with Dani. If Dani didn’t already know, and she said something to Cassie, Gaby would be as good as dead, so it was easier to just ignore it and get whatever information she could from Jayce, which she mentally reminded herself to do later. “Were your Facebook notifications blowing up?” She smirked, considering she knew she and all of her family members were definitely responsible for some of them. Gaby had, of course, put up pictures and some cheesy status about how much she loved her girlfriend, and how grateful she was to be spending another birthday with her, which she was sure Dani had seen already. It was much better showing her in person, though.
“I sure did!” She grinned, pleased with herself. Although she had it, Gaby wasn’t the type of person to just throw money away, but when she’d bought the bicycle, she’d known it was likely going to be something that just ended up sitting in the garage forever. Hopefully it’d be a distraction from Dani wanting a motorcycle, though, at least for now. As much as she’d hated having to leave for work this morning, at least Dani had understood. Their careers were both very demanding, and they’d both been there to see each other’s take off and to see the hard work they were putting into them, so at least Dani knew she hadn’t just bailed for no reason. “You know I’ll make it up to you. Starting with all of these awesome gifts!” She smiled, motioning to the bag. “Or I mean… I hope you think they’re awesome. I think they are. Maybe some of them are lame, I don’t know.” Gaby didn’t have the most self confidence in the world, that was no secret.
Whether any of the other gifts sucked or not, Gaby knew this first one was awesome for sure, and she bit her lip to hold back her smile as she watched her girlfriend take out the pick, then the note. She seemed to read over it multiple times, which Gaby hoped was a good thing. Judging by her reaction, it was. With a big grin on her lips, she nodded her head. “Yep! I can’t tell you my secrets, that’d ruin the birthday magic. Just know that you and Mr. Brad Paisley himself are going to be writing and recording a song together next week, and your proud girlfriend is going to be fangirling the entire time.” All of the other gifts felt kind of inferior now, apart from one, but they were there and waiting to be opened, so Gaby turned back to the bag and pulled out another. It was a small gold envelope, containing two tickets for a five day trip to Paris, which she held out to Dani. “Ready for another?”

As if it were on queue, Dani’s phone lit up when Gaby mentioned her notifications. They have been going off non-stop since she woke up, and she didn’t mind it one bit, but she couldn’t but roll her eyes playfully. There was no way that Gaby didn’t know about that. “Yes, of course. More from your family than my own family. Who is shocked, though?” She sighed, shoving her phone in her pocket to ignore it. She could see that the latest notification was a birthday wish from her parents and she had no interest in seeing it. No one will ever confuse her more than those two. They were never supportive when they were supposed to be, but now they acted like they were the perfect parents. It was no doubt to gain the attention that came with the fame, which she always knew about; just never understand it herself. Instead of acting like good parents, couldn’t they be good parents? They worked hard to make it look like they were. Or that they’ve ever been. She didn’t know why they kept trying, though. They should know by now that they would ignore them now matter what they had to say. She wasn’t even sure if they cared if she did. She was sure people were already telling them how sweet they were, or how lucky she and Cassie were to have them. It made her sick just thinking about it.
Dani smiled, thinking of her girlfriend going out and getting a bike after their talk. That definitely made her stop thinking of her parents. She didn’t need their love, she had love right here; spoiling her the way that they should have. She wasn’t about to say it, but she had never gotten a bike for her birthday before. It was so weird, considering all kids have gotten one at some point, right? But she never really got anything she asked for for her birthday, so it’s really no shock. “I do know that. I also know you never would have left if you didn’t have to, so it’s okay.” She shrugged. One of the things she learned about her girlfriend was her lack in confidence sometimes. Dani thought it was crazy, because Gaby had every reason to be confident, but she got it. Everyone got a little insecure sometimes, didn’t they? Still, she had no doubt that all of her gifts were amazing. “I’m sure they’re all awesome, baby. You’ve never disappointed me before.” She said, giving the other girl a reassuring smile.
She rolled her eyes playfully for the second time, this time at the words ‘birthday magic,’ “Oh, of course not. I don’t want to ruin the mystery.” She teased, although she didn’t really need to know how it happened. The fact that it was even happening was too exciting to even question it. It wouldn’t be the first time she’s worked with other people, but those were mostly because she had to work with them. Unless someone really inspired her as an artist, she didn’t want to work with them. Brad Paisley was obviously an exception. As were most country artists, even if Dani herself wasn’t a country artist. She was a country girl at heart, though, so it would be fun to do something a little different than her usual sound. “This is so amazing, baby. I’m so excited, I wish we were heading to the studio right now.” She said, bouncing up and down on the bed like she just got the greatest gift anyone could have ever given her. And she did, but it wasn’t the chance to work with Brad Paisley. It was being loved by someone so much that she made it happen.
“Of course I am.” She said, reaching out to grab the gold envelope in her girlfriend’s hand. She had no idea what was going to top the last gift, but she still opened it with a big smile on her face. She didn’t know what she expected, but she definitely wasn’t expecting two tickets to Paris. Now that sounded amazing to her. A trip to the city of love with the girl she loved. It was totally cliche and gross, which was something she would usually make fun of, but her girlfriend made her want to do things like that. Besides, it was Paris! “Babe, are you serious? A trip to Paris? That’s awesome!” She said, sounding way more excited than she planned on. Not that she wasn’t excited, she just wanted her to know all her gifts are awesome. “Two tickets, though? Who could I possibly take with me?” She smirked, obviously teasing.
I feel like you’re getting, like, stressed out and stuff about this, and it’s totes not a stressful thing. If you don’t want us to leak my pics, then fine, I guess we won’t. You win. As usual.
CASSIE: Pretty sure as the "older sister" like you always like to point out, it's your job to try to make birthday plans with me, so a big fuck you to you too.
DANI: I sent you a birthday text, so we could have made plans then at some point, couldn't we??
DANI: Plus, me being the big sister doesn't mean you couldn't have made plans with me, too. It works both ways.
I thought you liked being in control of everything, though, Ray? I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to be in control of this, too.
I do like being in control. You know that I do. However, I am not going to be sharing your nudes with anyone. Especially when I would only be doing it to beat them to the punch. I can’t help it if you get hacked, but I am not about to just hand them over to people.
Now that she was home, Gaby wouldn’t be moving from the house again. Unless Dani decided she wanted to go out to dinner or something, in which case Gaby would happily take her. Dani was the birthday girl, she got to call the shots today. As for work, though, after she’d shown her girlfriend the picture on her phone, she’d be tossing it aside and keeping her entire focus on the birthday girl. “I know, and you will. I wish we could’ve done all of this this morning like we were supposed to,” Gaby said with a small pout. “Did you at least use the free time to see Cassie?” Presumably, Dani’s counterpart was probably spending the day with her boyfriend, although they’d been having their own issues lately, so Gaby couldn’t be sure. This was also sort of her way of prying, to see if Cassie had told Dani anything Jayce hadn’t already told her.
Cassie and Jayce were the last thing on her mind once she’d handed the dress over to her girlfriend and seen her reaction, though. She knew Dani didn’t get as excited about clothes as she did—come to think of it, did anyone?—but she always felt good when she designed something for her that she actually liked. “Right? That’s what I thought, too!” she grinned, excited to see her reaction to her other gifts. The dress hadn’t even been planned, it’d just worked out well that it’d shown up in today’s delivery. Gaby wasn’t sure how well the bike would be received, though, since it wasn’t the kind Dani had actually wanted, so she bit her lip as she waited for her to react, feeling relieved when she seemed positive. “The other day,” she shrugged, setting her phone aside and pulling Dani into her arms when she leaned forward to kiss her. “I love you, too. So much. I’m sorry today didn’t start out like we wanted it to.” She gave the other girl another small kiss, before pulling back and glancing at the bag when Dani did.
“I would call you impatient, but I guess I did kind of make you wait longer than anticipated,” she teased, reaching into the bag and pulling out the first gift her hand touched. It was a small gift bag, sealed with a bow. “Okay, so you have to read the note inside the bag…” She instructed, smiling as she held the bag out to her girlfriend. Inside of it was a silver guitar pick engraved with Brad Paisley’s autograph. The note inside the bag was written by him, and read: Dani. Someone told me it was your birthday, and that I’d be missing a huge chance if I didn’t take the opportunity to record something with you. I’ve heard your music, she’s right. We have studio time booked next Friday. Bring your guitar. Can’t wait to write and record with you. Happy birthday! Brad Paisley.

Dani didn’t want to seem like she wasn’t understanding, because when it came to work, she totally was. She wasn’t mad that Gaby had to go take care of something, but she was glad she was back now. It was her birthday, she was allowed to be selfish and have her all to herself. “Not exactly. I sent her a birthday text, and I totally plan on talking to her at some point, but I would think she would be with her boyfriend right now... I didn’t want to interrupt anything.” She shrugged, even if she had no idea if anything was going on. She didn’t know the details of her sister’s relationship, but she made it a point to ask her when they talked later. “I’ve got some birthday presents for her, so I’ll see her at some point. I mostly spent my free time thanking people for their birthday wishes. Also waiting for you to show up, because I want presents.” She laughed, although it wasn’t really a joke. She was like a kid on Christmas morning, only this was much better. Christmas was for everyone, this day was just for her. Well, her and Cassie, but she didn’t mind sharing it with her.
“You just went out and bought that bicycle after our talk, huh?” She asked, finding it funny that her girlfriend actually went and got one. It had been a joke, and she knew it, but she meant it when she said she would ride the bike. She would totally make her girl sit on her handlebars, too, just because it looked cute when other people do it. Hopefully when they do it, Gaby won’t go flying off or anything. That would be less cute. “Hey, don’t be sorry. If I had to do something for work, I know you’d be understanding, so I will be, too. Besides, I’m sure you can find a way to make it up to me.” She smirked. Truthfully, she didn’t care that Gaby had to leave this morning. She was a little disappointed by it, but only because she wanted to spend every second with her. Also presents, but it was mostly because she wanted to be with her. It really was okay, though. There was nothing to make up for, she was just teasing.
“I am very impatient, but that’s true. You can’t say that about me today!”: She said as she reached out for the gift, looking into the small bag to see what was inside. She couldn’t really tell what it was, so she reached inside and pulled it out. If Gaby hadn’t told her about the note, she probably would have ignored it and just grabbed what she could now see was a guitar pick. Not that she wanted to ignore the note or anything, but she would have thought it was like another birthday card and she could read it later. “Babe, this is awesome!” She said, referring to the guitar pick. She had no yet read the note, but now she was reading it and she almost couldn’t believe what she saw. She read it a few more times before looking at her girlfriend, clearly shocked by what she just read. “No way. I’m going to record a song with Brad Paisley? How did you even pull this off?!” She asked, looking at the note to read it again to make sure this was actually happening. It totally was.
I defs thought engagements were about compromise. Guess this one is not.
Excuse me? Do I not compromise enough when I don’t say a thing about the ones that are already leaked? Because I could say a lot about them, but I bite my tongue, because that is something that you are okay with. Something that you enjoy, even if I don’t understand it. But for us to be the ones to leak them? I’m sorry, but that is something that I am not okay with.
Ugh, okay, but how about this… What if you leak them? Then you’d totes be in control, and it’d be way better for you. Am I right??
I can see how that would sound like a better idea to you, but no, baby. You’re not right. I don’t like people seeing you that way, no matter who leaks them.
I mean, it’s defs fine. Like, people have seen it all already, so why not give them an updated version, right? God made us without clothes, Ray. We’re basically going against his wishes by wearing them all the time.
They’ve seen what they can get, which I don’t like in the first place, but I do understand that it isn’t a big deal to you. It took me some times to accept that, and I do, as it is your body and you are allowed to feel however you want about people seeing it. I, however, am not a fan of the world seeing you that way, so I do not want you to be the one to leak them.
I totes love when I go in my tag and my nudes are there. Like, they’re super old now, so I don’t know why people still post them, but I did look real good in them! I have way newer ones in my iCloud now, I don’t understand why people don’t just hack those? Should I just leak them myself?
Whether a good or bad part, Gaby wasn’t sure, but a part of being a business owner at such a young age meant that Gaby really was very hands on with everything. At only 24 years old, she had multiple stores throughout the country, and would visit all of them regularly. However, today was a special day, and Gaby didn’t plan to leave her girlfriend’s side for any of it. So, when she’d gotten a call to let her know there was an issue with a new stock arrival at the LA store, she’d been genuinely pissed, and had promised Dani she’d be back as soon as possible so they could get started on celebrating her birthday.
Gabriela very rarely did anything by half, but she had to admit, she’d half-assed everything she’d had to do at the store, because she just wanted to get back to her girlfriend. She knew that although she had her sister to celebrate with, Dani wouldn’t have her parents all over her all day like Gaby would’ve, so she was happy to take their place, and the moment she was able to leave, she did; practically racing home with a dress from the new delivery that she thought would be perfect for Dani. The color would look awesome with her electric blue hair.
Knowing that her girlfriend could be a total little shit at times—only the most lovable one, of course—it really wouldn’t have surprised Gaby if she’d come home to find all of her presents opened already, so when she arrived home and found Dani in their room, kissed her hello and then went to her closet to find all of the presents unwrapped and exactly where she’d left them, she was nicely surprised. “I’m impressed,” she teased, pulling the big bag filled with wrapped gifts out of the closet and lifting it up onto the bed, before climbing up onto it too. The dress from the store was still in her hand.
“Oh, before we start on these, I thought this would look really good on you. It’s from the new delivery we just got at the store today. When I designed it I had you in mind,” she smiled, holding the dress out to her. Gaby then unlocked her phone, pulling up the picture of the brand new blue bicycle she’d taken in their garage yesterday and holding it out to Dani with a grin. “This is the one gift I couldn’t really hide in the closet… But it’s downstairs in the garage whenever you’re ready to take it for a spin.”
DANIELLE HARPER
For someone who didn’t have the happiest birthdays growing up, Dani seemed to enjoy them even more as she got older. It was almost like she was maturing backwards, acting like a big kid when her birthday came around. She would be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy the attention, especially the attention that she got from her girlfriend. Gaby was the reason why Dani was so excited for this day. She was lucky enough to spend every day with her, but she made every special occasion that much more special. Which was why Dani was left in their bed, pouting like a small child when her girlfriend had to leave.
Despite the birthday wishes blowing up her phone, the only one she really cared about spending it with was her girlfriend. Well, she would like to see her sister at some point as well, but she was sure she was probably screwing her boyfriend right now. What was the point of having a significant other if you didn’t get birthday sex out of it? Dani didn’t even call her sister to wish her a happy birthday, instead sending her a text. She would probably be the only one embarrassed if she ended up interrupting something. She couldn’t imagine Cassie being embarrassed by it, anyway. Probably just annoyed.
Laying on her bed and replying to birthday wishes was getting boring, so she found herself pacing back and forth in her room. She understood that her girlfriend had to work, but why did it have to be right now? There were presents in the closet begging to be opened! She must have walked past it a thousand times before deciding against it, throwing herself onto the bed to reply to the rest of her texts. She wanted to open her girlfriend with her girlfriend. Thankfully, Gaby returned pretty quickly after that. Dani practically threw herself at her when she got there.
“I wanted to open them with you. I can be patient when I want to be.” She said, although they both knew that wasn’t the truth. Dani was possibly the most impatient person, but she really did want to wait for her girlfriend. Until Gaby pointed it out, Dani hadn’t realized she had been holding something. She couldn’t help but smile when she saw it, though. No one could design something for Dani like Gaby can. No one knew her like she did, so not once was she disappointed by something she made for her. This dress was no exception. “Babe, I love it. How awesome will it look with my hair!” She said, losing focus on the dress when the other girl pulled out her phone.
Dani was about to tell her to put it away, because the last time she answered it, she had to leave her. It only took her a second to realize that she wasn’t talking to someone, but scrolling through the pictures. She couldn’t help but laugh when she saw what was on the screen. It wasn’t the bike that Dani was hoping for, but she loved it just the same. Especially the color. “When did you even put a bike in the garage, and how did I not notice?” She laughed before kissing her girlfriend. “I love it. I love the dress. And I love you.” She said, glancing at all the unopened gifts. “So. How much longer are you gonna make me wait?”
You top me, hermosa. In more ways than one. I was joking, but maybe that’s something I’ll have to give some serious consideration to.
By the way, your girlfriend has a birthday surprise for you this evening…
Nice. When you put it that way, I’m totally okay with topping you. You go ahead and do that, babe. Would you go for a bike ride with me? You could totally hop on my handlebars.
Oh, a birthday surprise before my birthday?? I’m surprised already.
