so i’m not even watching enchante but i’m seeing multiple people on every platform dissect the french in the first episode to call it bad. i speak french too (i am an immigrant of colour who lived in french-speaking countries for a long time). from what i’ve seen, the word choice is not the best and that’s a valid critique. however, i seriously don’t think it’s necessary to nitpick the accents and the pronunciation that we hear. it doesn’t matter if that guy was in france for 1 year or 10 years—everyone picks up a language differently and not everyone can lose their accent.

i just think that hyperfocusing on the accent and pronunciation is one of many micro aggressions that white people in western countries show towards poc when they’re just trying to learn their language. you might think you’re being funny and defending your language, but to me and to every other immigrant of colour that follows you, you just sound like another one of those racist people who makes fun of us and our parents when we speak your languages. if you’re white, maybe examine the reason as to why you feel the need to tear down poc in a silly rom-com for their pronunciation of french. i promise you, that kind of critique is inappropriate as hell.

I've seen many people say that they think Bad Buddy is sending a wrong message by having the parents "win", and while you can argue whether or not the show is going about it in the right way, it's not the message they're trying to send. Sadly I had to count on automatic translate, but the overall message of the scriptwriters' tweets is still there. Their home isn't a safe place, it's a toxic environment, and you should break the cycle and never pass these things onto anyone else. That's the message they're trying to send.

The director (Aof) also tweeted this not that long ago:

So is it heartbreaking and frustrating to see their parents not apologize or face consequences (yet), and have them "win"? Absolutely. Is it realistic? Absolutely. But is the message they're trying to send "their parents are right"? Absolutely not.

actually I find it kind of offensive how you're joking about cancelling people. it's a pretty serious thing and you should make it clear if it's a joke or not. I don't think it's very funny anyway... you're just making fun of it but there are people who genuinely deserve to be cancelled and this doesn't help.

hi! i totally get what you’re saying however

1) Me saying that the source was “just trust me” should’ve been red flag #1

2) These are all my friends. Me joking with my friends about getting cancelled does not diminish the impact actually cancelling people has (or lack thereof).

3) If we are actually “cancelling” people (or just holding them accountable) using terms like cancelled shouldn’t and wouldn’t be used because no one would take the claims seriously.
