Will’s arc being about getting rejected and getting the reassurance from others that he’ll be accepted for who he is makes no sense to me purely because they already showed us that Will is going to be accepted by the people around him.

This scene was basically about Will’s queerness and Jonathan reassuring them that he doesn’t care and loves him regardless.

This scene clearly meant a lot to Will considering he was in tears and he was definitely really happy that Jonathan accepted him for who he is.

So, you’re telling me that Will’s arc when it comes to his queerness in S5 is just going to be this scene but on a far grander scale? Doesn’t that feel really pointless?

For Robin, they had her come out in S3 to Steve then they gave her a love interest next season. They didn’t need to show her coming out to anyone else — instead they gave her a chance at romance like the other characters in the show.

For Will, he’s in love with Mike and that was never resolved (the painting lie!). Considering that he is a key character (I mean he’s at centre stage next season) and romance is a big part of his arc, giving him a side character love interest just won’t make a lot of sense.

If anyone wants to compare him to Dustin, then they can’t because Dustin’s crush on Max was short-lived and didn’t take up majority of his character arc. Romance isn’t a huge part of his arc either.

For Will, he’s been in love with Mike for seasons and romance definitely plays a larger part. In S4, they put so much emotion and weight into scenes surrounding Will’s queerness. Will and Mike had many one-on-one scenes together as well (unlike Dustin and Max). They were all heart-to-hearts too.

I don’t understand how people can assume that Will is going to be rejected then accepted and that’s the only storyline going on there because we don’t need that storyline. We’ve already gotten it to an extent. We’re in the “now it’s time to give Will a chance at romance” stage and based on how they’re building it up, there’s only one direction it can go in.

Queer Characters getting weighted talks from their loved ones who have guessed their queerness and are trying to show that they're a safe person to come to with that will always leave me a melted puddle of emotions.

I know I'm trying for on a creative/analytical hiatus (just to clear my head/get back into the groove of new schedules in my real life) BUT:

This is the quote The Duffers included with The Piggyback script release, and…well, I know for a fact it’s not all about Mike, but it certainly applies to him as much as anyone else. I’ve said once, and I’ve said it a thousand times: you were meant to feel like you lost S4–no arc is “done,” nothing was “resolved,” and to think so is to fundamentally misunderstand the story aka that god forsaken "I love you" (x9) did nothing to fix things.

—still, and as they've said repeatedly: even though the penultimate season felt like everyone lost, including the characters who aren’t Eleven aka Mike and Will …what The Duffers ultimately want is to give kids hope that they can overcome anything?

People who struggled in high school, who are struggling to “fit in" and struggling with acting "normal—"

—and who are trying to understand who they are—

—felt hopeless this season...but are going to feel like they can overcome anything....& run out of the darkness and into the light? 😂

I just. You don't even need to focus on the fact that he's also in love with Will to figure out wtf is happening here, and yet people remain clueless about how he's moving away from El and toward Will 😭 Sort through the themes of the show, and you can figure out the ending. With the duffers, that’s just how it is, and I’ve been saying it’s critical to understand the story and Mike’s arc for several months.
