I miss Gentleman Jack
She’s here.
"Felt very stupid all the morning." 15 Feb. 1819
Anne: I haven’t spoken to that person in over 10 years. What they did was unforgivable.
Ann: You don’t remember what it was, do you?
Anne: They know what they did.
I thoroughly intend to live with someone I love. I thoroughly intend to spend my evening hour with someone who loves me. Someone who is there all of the time, to share everything with.
someone slid into my DMs with a message written entirely in Anne Lister's crypthand
lesbians are stepping it up
GalPals™️ just being respectable women together on couches + beds. 100% friendly.

Are you a man?
Well, that’s a—question. And you are not the first person to ask it. I was in Paris, once, dressed extremely well, I thought, in silk and ribbons, ringlets in my hair, very gay. Very ladylike. And even then, someone mistook me for a— Mmm.
A woman . . . of your rank, traveling alone - it’s a curious thing.
I truly appreciate Sophie Rundle's respect for Ann Walker and her will to shine a light over the forgotten story of this courageous woman
- snippets of Sophie Rundle's interview for YouMagazine
Sophie Rundle to YOU Magazine.
“ ‘It meant that we felt so much more empowered than we would normally, and that was important because we also wanted to tell these women’s story in a way that represented them and wasn’t simply for titillation. In the end, Gentleman Jack was simply a love story we can all relate to. I’ve never had a breakdown like Ann [Walker], but I’ve had my heart broken and fancied people I shouldn’t have fancied. Everyone’s been through that.’ ”
Imagine being this beautiful😍💕

“ ‘It’s easy to write Ann Walker off, but she definitely had this little spark of defiance. Sally said to me, “Anne Lister was amazing, but she had the charisma to deal with all the opprobrium, while Ann Walker had none of that. Ann was religious, she was homophobic against herself and racked with guilt, so to do this transgressive thing must have taken so much strength of character and I love her so much for that. I just think, “What a hero.”’
anne: let’s play 20 questions
ann: sure! what’s your favourite colour
anne: circle. are you into girls
one of my favourite moments from episode 1 has to be Aunt Anne telling Ann and her aunt that their groom was shot out of a tree, and Ann being absolutely shocked saying “hOW” but her aunt is just like “fancy” and sipping her brandy
