Hey guys! I got a question a couple days ago asking what I thought the voices of the Seven + Nico and Reyna sounded like, and I really wanted to write some headcanons for it.
So, since the Heroes of Olympus series takes place in America, we can conclude that all nine demigods have an American accent, right? But, what do their voices REALLY sound like, when we break it all down?
Percy: whenever you hear Percy’s voice, you can always tell how he’s feeling. His voice is always full of expression, feeling, and emphasis, along with a lot of mischief and exaggerated sarcasm. He has a slight New York accent that becomes a lot more prominent when he yells.
Jason: Jason’s voice is deep, and may seem a little intimidating, but it’s NOT intimidating or scary, because it’s always lacy with emotion and has a wide range. Much like Percy’s, you can always tell how Jason is feeling when you hear his voice.
Annabeth: Annabeth’s voice is dry and firm, a little sarcastic, even, and people can always tell how intelligent she is just by listening to the way she speaks. Her voice is full of authority and power, but can be softer and heartfelt when she needs it to be.
Hazel: Everyone loves the way Hazel talks. She has a slight New Orleans accent with a wide range. She talks old-fashioned and makes a lot of hand gestures. She sometimes slurs her words, like many southern people, and everyone just finds her voice adorable and endearing.
Frank: Frank’s voice is deep and resonating, but doesn’t really sound that way because it has such an overcoat of slight awkwardness and embarrassment. He also has a slight Canadian accent. Overall, he talks like a professional wrestler mumbling, “um…c-can I kill you? Would…would that be alright?”
Leo: Leo’s voice is a little bit on the higher side of male voices, but is usually slightly hoarse or gruff, even when he’s joking around. He talks with a slight Latino accent, which becomes obvious when he’s yelling, or banging a wrench on a machine screaming “que trabajar, estúpida máquina!”
Piper: Piper obviously has two voices, her normal voice and her charmspeak voice. Her normal voice is sensual and a little raspy at times, while her charmspeak voice is thick and powerful with the raspiness taken out. It also has a barely noticeable French accent, courtesy of her mother’s home country. Both voices are voices that people enjoy listening to.
Reyna: Much like Annabeth’s voice, Reyna’s is firm and powerful, full of authority. The difference is that Reyna’s voice is thicker and slightly Puerto Rican, even though she tries extremely hard to hide it. You can definitely hear it when she gets tired, upset, or surprised.
Nico: Like Leo’s, Nico talks on the higher scale of male voices. He also speaks with a slight Italian accent, which is very easy to hear. The thing is, Nico has no idea that he talks with an Italian accent, but people don’t tell him because they love it and are afraid he will stop talking like that if they tell him. He often slips into Italian when he gets angry or upset.
