A Small Tourette Syndrome Story

I was waiting at the train station with my girlfriend. I was 15, and this was the most excited I had ever been to be with anyone. Across the tracks we noticed a woman doing [] what I know as ticcing, and pretty severely, too. More severe than I had ever been, anyway. We both watched her for a moment, giving knowing glances between each other, feeling empathy and belonging, before we noticed the group of teenage boys laughing and mocking her. Before either of us could get the courage to do something, the train on their track came, and she got on. 

When the train had pulled away, she comforted me, as if to tell me that this woman would be me one day, at some point, but that I was loved.

I come from a family that collects Wedgwood (type of ceramic; it’s an art/history collection). Seeing the designs behind it, and how it’s made can be more exciting than the pieces themselves!

 I would love to see this book in person one day. The amounts of fairies within must be countless.

I based the story on the book Juniper by Monica Furlong; a YA book about a medieval era society where witches (called Dorans) had their own agendas. In this video, my nomadic witch character finds a trapped fairy, and decides to set her free.
