Soon you’ll realize that many people will love the idea of you but will lack the maturity to handle the reality of you.

Building Something from Nothing
There are many ways to get to where you want to be.
I happen to be one of the many people in the world who are on the journey of self-discovery and building something from limited resources to start. I self-financed college, paid it off within two years, and started a business while working a full-time job to accomplish something more. By the time I’m 35 I will be financially set and free from the everyday worries of society. I’ve lived a beautiful and successful life so far. Have had it all and lost it all. I think every entrepreneur and business owner can relate to that in some way.
I’m going to be 30 years old on June 4th this year and plan to celebrate it quietly with myself (if my friends will let me, lol). In reflecting on my accomplishments, I’ve done some traveling, have been a part of planning and constructing large scale community projects, influenced and made friends with many people all over the world, and have been a part of launching and operating various businesses.
This past year, I’ve grown a lot through personal and professional relationships. I’ve taken a lot of criticism from those around me for my behaviors and habits as well. These are the moments I find motivational -- that others would care enough to share their observations of me in a safe environment. A good indicator of positive influences in your life are that they will share observations with you from a loving and supportive place. I have had the luxury of experiencing the criticism from those coming from a belittling, negative, and threatening space to understand that contrast.
Moving forward this year, I have a lot to be grateful for and proud of. Some things I’m not so proud of, but those moments also define our character for the better if we choose to allow them to. As I’m getting ready to start another major chapter in my life, I’m on path to helping many other people. I admit that I’ve been resisting that for a long time as well. I think we all need to stop being so greedy with ourselves and open up our talents to the world more. I’ve learned that you can still do it without compromising your privacy by learning to create boundaries. It sounds somewhat counter-intuitive, but the distinction is in creating and sharing your talents. This allows for freedom of self-expression, while setting clear communication boundaries and forms of contact protect your privacy as an individual. Looking forward, I’m excited for the possibilities in the rest of the year ahead.
As Mark Twain put it, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

Like most of us, I am not the most conscientious about what I eat (favorite foods = pizza and ice cream) or the most diligent at exercise, but 2015 has been an inspiring year so far. Never too late to start. ;)

The Finite Pie
Myth #1 of Killing Sacred Cows by Garrett B. Gunderson
Myth: There is a finite pie.
The truth: There is no finite pie.
Scarcity thinking brings out the worst in us including fear, pride, jealousy, selfishness, and adversarial competition. Replacing scarcity with abundance helps us to increase our creativity, productivity, health, wealth, and happiness.
