@theawkwardevans (I love you, I miss you and even tho I see or speak to you everyday I LOVE YOU. My shayla and love of my life everyone)
He was stressed. Deadlines were piling, and he felt the weight of pressure crushing down on him. James had tried pulling him out of his consistent spiral, but had no luck, and Lillith was on another weekend tour for her book. Alec was endlessly proud of her, but something about the absence of her during this kind of time soured his mood even further.
The door opened, and he heard the familiar jingle of the bell, but the absence of James greeting whoever it was. Normally, he would greet them himself, but he buried himself further in the book he was editing and adjusted his chair. It was then that four things happened in a matter of seconds. He heard a bag drop, heels on the wood floor and hands lifting his head before lips crashed to his own.
He’d have been more surprised at the lack of warning had he not been able to immediately recognise her. The smell of her perfume, the feel of her hair in his hands and the familiar hum of contentment as she kissed him. When she pulled away, he looked into her endless hazel eyes and smiled, “Why are you back so early?” He already knew the answer and knew he’d have to thank James. Alec pulled her onto his lap, knowing his wheelchair made it awkward, but that she would accommodate his wishes and settle anyway. Her look said it all, and he smiled, “Thank you, my darling.”
