Frida Kahlo, self-portraits
“When he shall die, Take him and cut him out in little stars, And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun.”
Romeo + Juliet (1996)
‘Librarian with a Sex Drive’ by Andrew Nette
It workth reading as Nette explores various books that influenced Bowie. One thing i learned:
“Ziggy Stardust also owed a debt to the 1971 novel The Wild Boys: A Book of the Dead by William S Burroughs, about a homosexual youth gang. Bowie modelled his character’s hair and make-up on descriptions of the Wild Boys.”
Claude Monet / Ninfee
The Dreamers 2003 Bernardo Bertolucci story by Gilbert Adair
I decided to put these two pictures together because I really love the intensity in his eyes. Like what great acting. The hands holding each other as they stare into each others eyes. And then as their lips connect their hands switch to different parts of each other, his hands holding her head and her hands on his hips.
