I started illustrating the contestants each year 4 years ago and thought it was high time I did a new updated illustration of Mel and Sue!

Badass Babe #6 : Sophia Duleep Singh, Suffragette Princess! 

Sophia Duleep Singh was an Indian Princess, God Daughter to Queen Victoria and a prominent member of the Suffrage movement in the U.K. 

Singh fought hard for the vote Following the ‘deeds not words’ campaign, which saw her arrested numerous times. However Singh wasn't ever behind bars long- no one wanted to force feed the Queen’s God Daughter after all.

The fifth in a series of illustrations celebrating the awesome women history forgot.

Badass Babe #5 : Irena Sendler.

Irena Sendler was a Polish nurse and social worker who served in the Polish Underground in German-occupied Warsaw during World War II. Thanks to her courage some 2,500 Children were saved from almost certain death.

I found out about Irena Sendler, thanks to the efforts of 'Life in a jar: The Irena Sendler Project' you can find out more information about her life over on their website.

I always wished that The Hunger Games ended with Katniss and Peeta planting primroses instead of having babies (ugh), but oh well… We can have it all.

Been reworking some old work I came across, taken from a project “Look I Found Hope”, in preparation for a craft fair I’m doing. Water colour of an elephant I draw while in Thailand not long after me and Emmy volunteered at the ‘Elephant Nature Park’ I’m not sure why I decided this lady needed a hat and scarf but it seems appropriate now I’m back in not so sunny U.K.
