me (not like the other girls) : okay so mason and corey work really well as a couple because they have each other's weaknesses. they're actually almost like foils. mason (and this is a bit of a headcanon, but his confidence/being good w people and the fact that he constantly bribes people with money is evidence) probably had a good childhood with awesome parents and seems to be in a great financial situation, meanwhile corey has been either emotionally neglected or even kicked out entirely by his parents, and works two jobs for an unknown reason (probably so he can either move out as soon as he turns 18, or to pay for his own expenses since he was kicked out.) because of their upbringings, mason is very emotionally attuned to other people and gives good advice, while corey can come across as apathetic at worst and thinks mostly with his head. of course there are exceptions to this as mason has to use logic to come to his conclusions when he figures stuff out, and corey has emotions obviously, but the two are mostly emotional and logical by themselves. so mason could help corey actually feel his feelings, since emotional neglect makes that really hard, and corey could help mason step back and think logically about things. not that mason doesn't already, but he almost rammed his car into a wall when he was left to his own devices so uhh
