17 years ago today, Capcom released my favorite game of all time. It was being developed as RE4; but, was deemed to different from the series and so it was decided to revise some prospects. Characters were named after that of Dante Aligheri's poem: The Divine Comedy while being much more action focused. While it was changed to a more action oriented release, it retained its horror roots with the setting taking place in a medieval castle brimful of demonic dieties with an atmosphere that grows more and more morbid as the game go on. All in all, when I played this, I was obviously young and I got my ass handed to me. But, by the end, it becomes evident why it is. The 3rd installment was perhaps the only one that is on par with the first; hopefully, the 5th will surpass my expectations next year.
