WHAT IS PROJECT QUEERHAVEN?
With the dawn of a foreboding day where the rights and safety of LGBT homeless youth are at risk, the Founders of this project decided that they must go into action to find a way to help as many people as possible.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS?
The company’s primary end goal is to spread out into each of the 50 states with at least two safe houses in each. The service offered by Project Queerhaven is mainly shelter in the beginning stages. As it expands, we hope to offer job opportunities within the program itself and access to some education the patrons may be missing out on. We would commandeer busses going around the state to pick up those who cannot get to us themselves. With each patron we will plan a way for them to get back on their feet and eventually have the tools necessary to live a successful life on their own again.
WHAT WOULD IT COST TO STAY THERE?
This will be a cost free program as we will run mainly on donations, grants, and hopefully the efficiency driven by the project itself.
WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
With the turmoil America is in, we need to protect our LGBT family as much as we are able to, and that starts with getting them off the streets.
HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE?
Check out our website, our Facebook page, or our Twitter. H*ck, follow all three.
HOW CAN I HELP?
We rely on substantial aid from generous people like yourself who care to make a difference in the way their community is run. Our Non-Profit Organization depends on the generosity of benefactors like you. No other companies seem to be in the market for large scale housing for LGBT people. Isn’t it time that was changed? (Also, if you donate over $100, you get your name on a plaque in every safehouse, plus some other fun items)
Saw their commercial on @viceland 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

A PAPER JINGLE DRESS
THE TALENT
Right its AMAZING. Think about the touch it took to make this 👍🏽
Still hoping we can find out who made this beautiful thing ♥️
this dress is the work of Anishinaabe artist Maria Hupfield! Each of the paper jingles on this dress holds the name of an indigenous author from north america!
(here’s the link explaining this piece on her website)
This is so great Kesalt kesalul welalin i love it its beautiful thankyou so much ♥️❤♥️❤✊🏽♥️♥️
Really though this is so awesome
Maria Hupfiel - Jingle Dress, 2002
“The work Jingle Dress is a quiet act of cultural empowerment, modeled after the contemporary Native American woman’s healing and dance regalia of the same name, which consists of numerous metal jingles adorning its surface. Made from regular blue lined note paper, the jingles on this artwork carry the names of over 500 Indigenous authors from North America. Each jingle represents one voice; collectively they make visible the written contributions of Native Americans. The stillness and contemplation of this work comments on the dichotomy that exists between the value of objects and knowledge.”
