My all time favorite playlist for flowing.
Been trying to flow the last 3 weeks and today I can say that I now know what “flowing” is supposed to feel like. Although I only have 4 moves down, I managed to get lost in the music and in the flow of the hoop. It was pretty amazing. I also conjured up the courage to try doing a few new things just because it felt right. (Plus no harm done in the privacy of my own room ^^)
Dare I say, I might get addicted to flowing all the time now.
Although I haven't been hooping for a few months, the last couple of weeks have really given me a new perspective. I know now that I just have to "do." Finding the confidence to stop saying I'm just a beginner and just hoop, has given me my flow.
SpinFX hoopers at LA Live
Had a full hour hooping session outdoors today after 2 weeks of a break. Spent some time preparing for and recovering from Coachella. The boyfriend is sleeping in for the first time in 2 weeks, so I stole away to the yard. It feels good to be in the the hoop again. Worked on knee hooping and reverse shoulder hooping. Seeing some progress! Trying different approaches to knee hooping to get a better feel of things, like including a wider rotation in the mid body as opposed to just focusing on the knees, this is allowing me to take tiny steps. Reverse hoop anything is just difficult, my body feels confused haha. However, I managed to keep the hoop rotating for a bit, but I know my chest is not as flexible as when rotating to my primary side. Still needs lots of practice and muscle memory I suppose. Anyways, it will be nice this weekend. I will do this again tomorrow. ^^
Hi guys, here’s a new illustration! Hula Hoop Girls ‘-‘)/
My favorite part of this illo is their shoes!
why werk when you can hula hoop?

Introducing my first and current hooping companion! A 100 psi PEX tubing did-it-myself hula hoop. It’s dressed in a red sports and black friction tape. And with just the right amount of battle scars.
Hooping in Reverse
The past week has been spent practicing hooping to the right. It was a rocky start because my muscle memory was telling me to pulse in the other direction. After a couple days of just waist hooping to the right, I can say that I have a solid foundation for core hooping in reverse. I’ve also managed to get from waist to vortex going this way (yhay!). The next to-do on my check list would be to work on getting the hoop to move up to my chest. It was tricky enough to learn it hooping to the left, not sure how successful I’m gonna be, but as I have learned, with repetition and practice I will eventually be able to do it.
Another update, I finally got a feel for what performing a vortex is supposed to feel like. Because the hoop needs momentum to be able to transfer between hands, I can only pull it off while moving in a circle. It was great to be able to feel the flow of it.
Make time to eat right. Make time to study. Make time to dance. And make time to sleep.
This is especially hard when all I want to do is pick up the hoop and dance.
Back to Square One
So after attempting Deanne Love's Video - The Change Game, I finally registered the seriousness of my lack in ability to hoop to the right. Should be a matter of getting used to pulsing in the opposite direction, but I didn't think it would be so difficult. (With sarcasm) Ohhhh... I just can't wait to reteach myself chest hooping to the right. TT
On a better note, I managed to keep the hoop up on my shoulders today (day 12), BUT! only by stepping in a circle. And although it is staying up, the hoop rotates a bit wobbly at times and I feel limited by the speed I'm pulsing and stepping. I also don't look very graceful because of this. With more playtime hopefully my body can mold and respond better to the hoop. Anyways, YHAY! Glad to see some progress.
