Season Four: Part One | Part Two
do you know how miserable and tragic your life has to be to say that katniss everdeen is luckier than you and be correct
To Snow, Lucy Gray is forever the same 16-year-old girl who ~betrayed~ him, and she haunts him accordingly. But Lenore Dove ages and grows gray alongside Haymitch, like sheās walking next to him through the years instead of lying in her grave. If you even care.
rereading catching fire after SOTR has been... an exprience..
haymitch didn't have to eat so hard after every character he cares about died... like what do you mean "who will sing your songs now?" "wyatt callow who's luck just ran out. i can't believe how hard it hits me" "whoever lou lou was she's gone now" "buddy? somewhere beetee's heart breaks into fragments so small it can never be repaired" "goodbye maysilee donner, who i loathed, then grudgingly respected, then loved. not as a sweetheart or even a friend. a sister, i'd said." like alright
"I first saw the girl at the Hob when she was just a baby. Burdock was so proud of her, he toted her around everywhere. After he died in that mine explosion, she started coming alone, trading the odd squirrel or rabbit. Tough and smart, her hair in two braids then, reminding me for all the world of Louella McCoy, my sweetheart of old. And after she volunteered for the Games, that nickname couldnāt help but slip out." - Haymitch Abernathy, Sunrise on the Reaping.

***Iron Flame SPOILERS****
I am so incredibly disappointed with what everyone is choosing to talk about with this book. Everyone is concentrating on what happens with Xaden but you know what to me was the absolute most gut wrenching storyline in the whole book? General Lilith Fucking Sorrengail.
From the moment we see her again in the beginning of the book she is nothing but supportive and proud of her daughter. Yes, she absolutely made the wrong decision where she stands in the war, and what she did to Xaden was absolutely inexcusable. (Although I do think if she hadnāt done that they would have killed all the marked ones.) But she made all those decisions for her children. Because she did what she needed to to keep them safe. You canāt convince me that even after Violet leaves, that even after Mira leaves, that she wasnāt incredibly thankful for the fact they were together and with Xaden who would never let something happen to Violet.
Lilith went into the dungeons to get her daughter out of there and I am not unconvinced that had Violet not already been mid rescue the General wouldnāt have turned traitor right there to get her out. The scene when Brennen reveals himself to her?? Sheās cracking and can hardly hold herself together and my heart felt so sorry for her in that moment. It made me mad at Brennan because he threw it in her face like ammo when Violet spent all of fourth wing describing how his death ruined their mother.
One of the most heart breaking quotes in the whole book is at the beginning of chapter 65:
āMost generals dream of dying in service to their kingdom. But you know me better than that, my love. When I fall, it will be for one reason only: to protect our children.ā
General Sorrengail didnāt support the war, she didnāt fight for Navarre she made it clear fron the beginning that she was just a mom protecting her kids, and she did so without second thought. Without hesitation. She didnāt do what she did for the war effort, or even to help everyone on the battlefield. She did it for Brennen, and Violet, and Mira.
Lilith Sorrengail was just a desperate mother and everyone glossing over her sacrifice is bullshit.

THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY 2.08 "Love Triangle"
You gotta step into the daylight and let it go...
Why Iām more team Jelly (aka why Iām team Jelly)
Something about Belly and Jeremiah makes so much sense to me. They just āflowā. Idk if thatās the right word, but itās how I see them. Everything with them seems natural and easy, like they donāt have to try with each other, they just are.
I do understand why the Team Conrad people want to see them together (in some ways) but in my opinion, Jeremiah is the right choice for endgame and is Bellyās future.
Conrad was Bellyās first love. He was the older brother who was always sweet to her and who she harboured a crush for, for so many years. But Jeremiahās the love thatās always been there. Heās the love that all of a sudden hits her in the face and she goes āhow has it taken me this long to see it?ā. Jeremiah is the boy who stayed at home with her for a week because she was sick and he didnāt want her to be alone. Heās the boy she stayed home for when he got sick too. Heās the boy she would run with to the beach with and play in the water. The boy who she knows ābetter than any boyā. Sheās the girl who makes him feel seen (which only his mum and belly do). Heās the guy that will āalways come and get herā. No matter at what stage Belly was in in her life, wether she was going on a date with someone or if she was little and was going to be home alone sick, Jeremiah pushed his own feelings aside, and chose to be there for her.

āItās literally impossible to be a woman.
You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don't think you're good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow, we're always doing it wrong?
You have to be thin, but not too thin, and you can never say you wanna be thin. You have to say you wanna be healthy, but also, you have to BE THIN.
You have to have money, but you can't ask for money because that's crass.
You have to be a boss, but you can't be mean.
You have to lead, but you can't squash other people's ideas.
You're supposed to love being a mother, but don't talk about your kids all the damn time.
You have to be a career woman, but also, always be looking out for other people.
You have to answer for men's bad behavior, which is INSANE, but if you point that out, you're accused of complaining!
You're supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you're supposed to be a part of the sisterhood, but ALWAYS STAND OUT and ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL. But never forget that the system is rigged, so find a way to acknowledge that but ALSO, always be grateful!
You have to never get old. Never be rude. Never show off. Never be selfish. Never fall down. Never fail. Never show fear. Never get OUT OF LINE. It's too hard! It's too contradictory, and nobody gives you a medal or says 'thank you!' And it turns out, in fact, that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also, everything is your fault.
I'm just so tired of watching myself, and every single other woman tie herself into knots, so that people will like us.
And if all of that, is also true for a doll just representing a woman, then I don't even know." -Gloria the barbie movie
this is it. this is exactly it oh my god.
And after four rocky years of high school, Devi finally had both the boy and the college of her dreams.
