The Brick Wall Spread
So uh…back when I was…17…I made this spread to deal with WRITER’S BLOCK. But it’s flexible enough to deal with any kind of problem where you just feel STUCK and you’re not even sure what you’re trying to even do anymore.
So, I never actually FINISHED this spread…I had posted it all those years ago wanting to tweak it and looking for help. But either I never finished it or I never wrote down my changes anywhere, so I have the original spread and nothing else now.
My ideas for this spread were:
Card One is you – the person. This is where you can check in with what you’re doing, look at your attitude about the situation…that kind of thing.
Card Two is the bottom of the wall that’s blocking you. This has the potential to be the easiest part. It’s at the bottom, so maybe you could just walk around it. Maybe there’s a door. Worst comes to worst, getting your footing here usually isn’t that hard, if you have to climb all the way up.
Card Three is the next section of the wall. Obviously it’s a little more difficult than Card Two. This was the card I had the most trouble with when I first made the spread. I made a lot of my spreads by “Feeling” back then and what I felt like is that at this point, you’re probably kind of tired. You’re kind of STUCK at this point. You can’t climb over it, you can’t really get AROUND the wall at this point.
In a reading this, this would likely be that part of the problem that you’re having a hard time grasping – it can also represent the place you’re most likely sliding back at.
Card Four is the top of the wall, and this is what you can overcome. This is what it takes to reach your goal, if you’ve come this far. (Card Four can sometimes be a clue to what you need to move past card three)
Card Five is what waits for you at the other side of the wall. It can be an idea, an event, a solution, a person…whatever it is, this is what you get when you find your way over, around, under, through…however you get past that wall, card five is what you find there.
I haven’t actually used this spread in, uh…six years or something…I’m playing around with it now to see if it’s worth keeping around, and if/where I can improve it. SO IF YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS, FEEL FREE TO LET ME KNOW ABOUT THEM :D
