"what did students do before chatgpt?" well one time i forgot i had a history essay due at my 10am class the morning of so over the course of my 30 minute bus ride to school i awkwardly used by backpack as a desk, sped wrote the essay, and got an A on it.

six months later i re-read the essay prior to the final exam, went 'ohhhh yeah i remember this', got a question on that topic, and aced it.

point being that actually doing the work is how you learn the material and internalize it. ChatGPT can give you a short cut but you won't build you the the muscles.

Also sometimes you just turned something in late or got a bad grade and that was also part of life and learning.

I know that we often say stuff like "if youre a student, school is your job."

But to be clear- the job of a student is NOT to produce essays or fill out worksheets, like it's some data entry desk job.

The "job" of a student is to *learn the course material.* and if you're using ChatGTP, you are just *not* doing that.

Writing a TERRIBLE essay yourself is infinitely more useful and in line with the purpose of school than turning in a technically correct competent chatgtp essay.

MEXICAN FAMILY ALMOST OUT OF FOOD!!!

I'm out of words.

I don't even know what to prioritize or what to say to get attention.

Everything at home keeps breaking or malfunctioning.

We still can't land a good job or even a bad job that pays for that matter.

I understand things are hard for everyone but we literally would not be here if it weren't for your generosity online.

I made a list of all the things we need to fix/pay for in this post to avoid making this one too long.

I guess the most pressing matter is getting food and being able to pay my meds next Monday, I don't want to end up at the hospital again. EDIT: need extra money for a doctor appointment and subsequent lab tests for my eldest who has hemorrhoids and needs treatment ASAP.

Didn't meet our last goal of our last post but I'm so grateful for anyone who helped donate/reblog.
