highkey it always irks me how dvmn fans are pretty persistent about the idea that ryo/satan had to learn how to love, fear, etc. (basically just experience human emotions) throughout the manga and it wasn’t something innate about him. like… the problem all along was that he loved so overwhelmingly he got punished for it. and would it not be a fair assumption that he faced fear, being cast aside by the one being that’s ‘guaranteed’ to love you? especially him being an angel that was god’s favorite… i feel like there’s so many instances leading up to the devilman manga that disprove satan’s ‘lack’ of emotional depth. the issue that i find to reside most in satan/ryo is this immense amount of love, fear, and betrayal that brewed over inside of him, causing him to be blind to how he is carrying out this cycle of trauma upon others.

ryo has always been an epitome of love to me. i’ve always felt like ryo and akira have had similar pursuits in a sense…
