Yugo had never wanted to believe the people he’d heard trying to bash Jack for his success. In his opinion, that was what made him a hero—showing the entire city that a Commoner could make a place for himself in the Tops.
…Even if Jack’s attitude could be a little rough and rude sometimes.
“Yeah, but don’t you kinda hafta have an attitude like that to make it outta the slums, too? It’s not like there’s every been any Topsiders care ‘bout where any of us end up. Jack’s harsh, but…maybe that ain’t such a bad thing?”
“Depending on what you consider bad.”
Again he shrugged. Not that long ago he had wanted to destroy the world. Well.. not really but he was totally accepting it to happen in order to get his revenge. For him it was a good thing.Still Yusei doubted that the other one would think like that as well.
“If you think leaving your friend behind to die is the kind of attitude you need to get out of this hell than it probably isn’t a bad thing.”

“With that kinda tone, guess there’s some pretty hard feelings going ‘round between you ‘n him, huh?” Yusei didn’t need to say anything out loud for Yugo to pick up on that attitude. He’d seen it before, out of more people around the Common’s district than he’d cared to admit.
“Not that I’m that surprised. Jack might be a Common’s hero to a bunch’a us, but there’s some people here who think he’s a straight-up turn coat, too. They’re convinced the fame ‘n glory of being accepted into the Tops like he was went straight to his head and helpin’ out the people like me who’s still stuck livin’ at the bottom’s the last thing on his list now.”
Yugo didn’t believe them. Jack was his inspiration; the one goal he had to live for as long as he was stuck a Common in a society like City. To him, Jack was a real hero—but this Yusei seemed to know a different side of him.
“Is he really that kinda guy?”
“You could say so.” he replied with a slight shrug. What else should he say after all? Saying that the things between him and Jack had been good had been a blunt lie Yusei didn’t felt like saying. They once had been friends. But as he already said to the other one before. Jack betrayed him and left him behind. There’s nothing left of this friendship.
“He always thought he was something better. It’s not since he got to the City. But Jack Atlas only things of himself so those people probably weren’t wrong with saying that.”

“But his sponsors didn’t say anything ‘bout him havin’ a foster brother.”
Though, it almost made sense. Jack was a duelist from the Commons sector; a man both him and Rin idolized for the way he’d been able to duel himself right to the top of a life of luxury. He gave kids like the two of them a dream to shoot for and he was a talented Turbo Duelist to boot. Jack was everything Yugo wanted to be and more, but…this guy didn’t seem too impressed by him at all.
In fact, if Yugo were to say anything, he almost sounded upset with Jack.
“You guys grow up with each other when he was still stuck livin’ down here in Commons or something?”
“I probably don’t fit in his wonderful background story.”
Also...Yusei really doubt that Jack even told his sponsors about him. Once he had met the other one before the duel at the reactor there had been clear signs that Jack knew who he was, but those other signers hadn’t. So if Jack didn’t told them, why any sponsors?
“It wasn’t really down here and more over on the satellite but yeah, you could say so.”
Well but with the other one knowing about Jack and talking like that traitor was still around made the option of him ending up in the future mostly impossible, right?

It was becoming increasingly clear that this conversation was going nowhere. It seems like Yusei may have lost his faith in people, but she didn’t. There wasn’t a point in pushing this conversation forward if he was dead set in his beliefs. Maybe the only way to get him to see how she views the world was by directly showing how people could change. Though that would involve defeating him first and preventing the King of the Netherworld from resurrecting.
“Right, I’m here to deactivate that control tower.”
She had to get to that control tower and fast if she wanted to protect everyone. She pushed the doubts and questions that Yusei raised away. That was something she would have to handle later after the control tower was deactivated and the Dark Signers were defeated. She had to focus in and not let her feelings get in the way of her inevitable duel. Her deck was still Dragunity focused, however, her skill and her deck have improved greatly since Yusei last saw her duel.
“I’m going to show you how much I’ve grown since the last time I saw you Yusei!”
"Ah.. but don't think I just let you do that."
After all.. he was here to stop her. It wasn't his first choice that much was no secret. But he wasn't asking his gods decisions for now as long as he would get his revenge on Jack later. To be honest he had no doubt that Jack would win the duel against his opponent after all so it should be no problem to deal with him later.
For now he should focus on Marinette. He hadn't seen her duel in a rather long time now so he was half way expecting that her style of dueling as well as her deck had changed at least somehow. But his own had changed as well. While still a few familiar monsters were left most of them were replaced by dark attribute monsters he collect over the last years.
And honestly.. he wouldn't have to keep her for that long until it was too late. She was too late. Soon nothing would be able to stop them anymore.
"Show me then. I'm curious to see how much of a fight you can really show me."
And with that he was starting the engine of his D-Wheel again. Oh that would be fun.
{ Yugo }
“Put on the brakes! Are you sayin’ that the guy you were lookin’ for was actually the Jack Atlas!? As in City’s ‘Master of Faster’, the Common sector’s hero, the D-Wheel genius? That Jack Atlas!?”
Obviously the name rang a bell, but what was even more shocking than this guy looking for Jack was him thinking Jack shouldn’t known someone like him. Yugo didn’t know the duelist personally, but what he did know was that Jack didn’t exactly keep a wide circle of friends that weren’t simply his ‘fans’.
“Do you get how many people The King actually sees every day? He’s a City legend! So there’s no questionin’ why he didn’t know you ‘cause if I was guessin’, he probably doesn’t. It’s not like he’s much on rememberin’ who he sees at meet ‘n greets.”
“Do you know any other Jack Atlas?”
It was a rather annoyed question at this point because honestly Yusei still couldn’t understand how people could get this excited about about Jacks mentioning because.. honestly that guy was nothing much more than a traitor in his eyes. Nothing changed about that, even if that voice inside of his head didn’t seemed to be around any longer. Or for now. Yusei wasn’t really sure about that yet.
“Well maybe it was bit much to expect him remembering his foster brother. On the other side he seemed rather well okay with leaving me to Security so I’m probably not that surprised actually that he forgot about me.”
But honestly.. maybe he had expected at least some small hint of recognition in the other ones eyes though.
{ Yugo }
“So, wait. You’re sayin’ you met two people that you shoulda known here, but they had no idea who you were?”
As far as Yugo knew, he’d never had anything like that happen to him before. The people that he knew usually remembered him no matter what dimension they found themselves in because if that’d been the case, then Yuzu should’ve forgotten all about him the second they’d bounced from Standard into Synchro, or Synchro into Fusion.
She hadn’t though, so Yugo had no idea what the other was trying to get at.
“You sure you had the right people? ‘Cause if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you just ran into the wrong guys.”
“That’s what I said yeah.”
At least the other one did still listen to him. Maybe this conversation would lead somewhere in the end, even though Yusei wasn’t sure if he’d like the direction it was heading to right now.
“I’m rather sure.. you don’t confuse Jack Atlas with anyone else after all.”
Jack was the only person he ever me with an attitude like that. It wasn’t exactly one he liked but it was one he remembered. And probably would never forget no matter how much he tried to. And honestly getting his revenge could have been so easy but where’s the fun in it if the other one wasn’t even aware about what he had done at all?

“Yes, Yusei I believe in that future.”
Her eyes narrowed at her former older brother and some of her confidence came back. This was something she believed in heavily and was determined to make it a reality someday. She knew that she was young and wasn’t very experienced in life. However, that wasn’t going to stop her from dreaming. Dreaming of a future where people didn’t have to grow up like her, wondering if there is going to be food on the table.
“People aren’t going to change overnight, I know that much. Nor will they forget what has happened. I’ve seen how the people from the city treat us, especially those who are marked. But that doesn’t mean that they are going to stay like that forever. People are capable of change as long as you believe in their ability to change and be patient enough.”
“Than your even more stupid than I though you’d be.”
On the other side... if she wouldn’t have been like that the crimson dragon probably wouldn’t have chosen her at all. No one sane was stupid enough to accept such a fate when the alternative was peace and freedom finally. Just not for everyone but that part wasn’t important for the dark signer at all. No one cared about him back then. So why should he care now?
“People won’t change if you don’t gave them a reason to. They certainly won’t change just because you hope so. But if you scare them enough they won’t have another choice.” But to be honest Yusei was rather well aware of the fact that this story won’t have an happy ending. But as long as he would get his revenge he wouldn’t really need something like that at all.
“Anyways. That’s not why you’re here, right little signer?”
Not long anymore and she would be to late after all. Time was surely running against her and distracting her from her goal had worked long enough for now. He was just getting tired of this conversation slowly so why not make things more interesting again?
{ Yugo }
“Huh…? That supposed to be some kinda trick question?”
Then again, Yusei answering his question with another question had already caught Yugo off guard. He’d been expecting a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ so he could go on explaining what he knew of the world and its four different Dimensions. Not…whatever that was supposed to mean?
“Doubt it, though. People’re kinda limited to being in only one of the dimensions at a time, unless there’s some kinda trick to being in two that I missed out on?”
“But as someone who’s traveled between a few of ‘em, it sounds impossible to me. The Dimensions might be different worlds ‘n all, but being in two would be like being in the Tops and Commons at the same time. It ain’t happenin’.”
But then that left Yugo with a question of his own, too. “Why? You gotta reason to go with that question or something?”
That didn’t sound like it was possible, even though Yusei also got the feeling that Yugo wasn’t that sure about his reply. But maybe that was more because of the fact that he surprised him a bit with his question? In the end he shrugged slightly.
“The place where I’m from... there were those two guys I knew from my childhood.I met them a while ago but they didn’t knew who I was at all.”
Maybe they just wanted to forget him after all that have happened. The just had abandoned him after all so it wasn’t that unlikely. But still.. there had been no reaction at all ?
{ Tsukiya. L Taketora }
This city still felt like everything but home and yet he was coming here over and over again. Still avoiding the people he knew around here at all it made the whole trip of coming here rather stupid and useless but still… Yusei couldn’t help it. Something was pulling him towards this city over and over again.
He just had left his D-Wheel behind for a short moment to pick up some food, but once he came back there was another person close to his D-Wheel. Too close for his liking if Yusei was honest to himself and his face darkened a bit.
“If I were you Iwouldn’t touch that.”
Oh shoot. Tsukiya retracted his hand as if his fingertips had brushed against a burning hot flame, his heart almost skipping out of his chest in sheer astonishment. That genuinely scared him. The tone paired with the suddenness- . It all spelt bad news. But mostly just awkwardness.
He stood himself up, rubbing the back of his head in a sheepish manner when he faced the supposed owner of the D-Wheel.
“Ah- Sorry about that! It’s just that- D-Weels are quite rare from where I come from so I couldn’t help but uhhh… Look?”
He had stopped a few meters away from the D-Wheel, arms crossed in front of his chest while he as watching the other one carefully. He didn’t exactly seem familiar. And at least for this moment he seemed more scared than like he had some bad intentions.
Still...
“They are rather common in this part of the town so I guess you’re not from here? For looking you don’t need to use your fingers though, do you?”

Jack was a fellow Signer which meant that she put her blind faith in him. They were connected on a deeper level than she was to Yusei. They were both chosen for a reason. Though Yusei’s words definitely gave her something to think about and several questions she had for Jack and Crow after this. She’s been kept in the dark long enough and she wanted answers one way or another. Yusei only held a fraction of a tale from her childhood and she needed to know the entire story.
She definitely remembered struggling to get by growing up. There were times where food was scarce and medicine was hard to find. Though it was because she was with everyone that it made it seem a lot better than it actually was. The world that Yusei was describing sounded good and a place she wouldn’t mind being.
“We can work towards making a future like that. The Satellite and Neo Domino City can be connected. People wouldn’t have to grow up worrying about their next meal like we did.”
That’s the kind of world she would love to see. People able to grow up happy and safe, not having to worry about the basic necessities to live. She knew that allowing the Dark Signers to do as they pleased was definitely not the way to try and achieve this future.
“Do you really believe that?”
Was she actually that naive? Maybe it was because of her age but still Yusei couldn’t actually see any reasons why she should be able to actually believe words like that.
“Even if you manage to connect both parts again by some miracle, you really think the people would just forget about? People from the City see us as nothing more but rubbish that’s not even allowed to breath. Why should they treat us any better just because there are bridges between us?”
No, it wasn’t that easy. The discrimination between Satellite and the City was way to big to ignore. Add in the one towards those wearing criminal markers and you end up right in hell. And with most of the people not even thinking about changing anything about it Marinette was rather lonely with her wish. It wouldn’t work.
