The Kazekage clears his throat.
Thirty minutes early.
“Soldier,” he says, narrowing his eyes when Sasori looks up sharply. “What do you think you’re doing?”

He’s is fairly sure that the photos were sent to spite him, and though, yes, he would file a police report for the offense, he is also certain that spite is not a crime. At least, not yet.
Some part of him says he should be thankful for that—five feet tall and every inch of him is petty petty petty. The other part firmly denies any wrongdoing on his part. Hell will freeze over before Sasori admits to doing anything wrong.
He taps at his phone. Zooms in. Then out. Tilts his head at the angle. It really isn’t bad, but it’s not something he would draw, either.
…the other pictures, however…
Sasori clicks out of the photo gallery. Then deletes them from his phone. For good measure, of course, and nothing more.

Except that Ryōzen knew the founders. Was a child when he met the Shodai Kazekage. And much older when he replaced the Nidaime Kazekage. In reality, Sunagakure was a land of conquerors who didn’t care for Suna beyond the power it brought them.

Occasionally sends a meme in a group chat. More often, it’s going to be some sort of Get this academe gossip to @mita-rashi. You would not believe who started a fight at the conference today.
But for the longer letters? The ones where he pretends to pour his heart out to catch an unwitting person? The ones he intentionally adds a personal touch to?
Those are written in good parchment paper, elegant script, and his stamp or seal on it.

Purple prose and formatting. Forever.
Like, don’t get me wrong. I love formatting--- used correctly. Usually in poetry. Such as:
My general rule is to use the least amount of words to convey the meaning you want. Which I don’t always follow because I don’t always draft and edit my replies. But I don’t go out of my way to pick up a thesaurus to increase my word count to 500 when I could say the same thing with 50 words. And then make it pretty because words not used often are pretty.
If I were reading poetry it would be fine. There is form to poetry. There is a cadence to poetry.
The cadence in writing prose is different. This depends so much on readability that to me--- it doesn’t make sense to flower up a paragraph only to lose the meaning in it.
Not to mention spend like a good 5 minutes in one paragraph :/ :/

Poor people are an opportunity unlike any other!
They don’t ask for a whole lot and most of the things they need, Ryozen as Kazekage could provide. Not to mention, they’re willing to do a lot of things to get what they need. They’re also generally easy to find.
Best of all, they don’t have the power to get back at you. He will always have stronger and more loyal ANBU at his beck and call (though some of those ANBU also have humble beginnings). And generally, those poor people he uses for other reasons are pretty much disposable.
Thanks in part to a certain Suna nin knowing how to tamper with memory. It’s also easy to erase evidence of anything related to him.

I tend to be someone who likes to plot? The more elaborate, the better. As evidenced by my probably 100 different AUs at this point in time.
And I get it that not everyone is up for writing as elaborately as that. That’s fine.
But when I try to go into someone’s ask box and try to negotiate an RP... and it doesn’t end up being a negotiation? Just me giving ideas and my partner going “that’s great!” with little to no return? I’m not talking full blown essay. I sometimes just need a-- my character’s personality is a bit like this. Given what you’ve said about yours, this could be a possible dynamic. What do you think?
Or you know, just, any indication that someone is putting thought into what you’re plotting and genuinely wants to RP with you?
So my pet peeve is--- that lack of return.
Bonus if I write the starter and never get a reply :/ :/ or they say they’ll write a starter in a minute and they never do.

Sasori arrived as soon as he was given word, as obedient as a trained dog. His fingers were still stained with ink and he smelled like wood shavings. When he arrived in the Kazekage’s office, his face lit up with satisfaction and he stopped in front of his desk into a tidy bow. Everyday, he was inching closer too. One day, maybe he’d skip this part altogether.
“Kazekage-sama. I am at your service.” Sasori’s head didn’t go down all the way. He watched him through the corner of his eye, wanting to see everything possible before he had to go again. Was it just him or did he imagine the slight scent of iron in the air? Was it his imagination or did a trickle of black move in the corner? Sasori itched to understand, but he was still. Waiting. Doll-like.
There was iron sand wherever he went. Ryōzen trained himself specifically to have enough chakra reserves to bring his main weapon around with him and never grow tired. One can never be too careful. Especially as Kazekage.
Ryōzen closed the file he was holding. Yes, he remembered this one. Ruthless in a battle field and as well as efficient. Young, but evidently no longer one of the fresh greens.
“Come closer,” he said. And with a wave of his hand, iron sand rushed over the desk, forming a replica of the desert field. Sunagakure stood in great detail towards the very left of the desk. The fortress was several miles south. Right after a large pass--- one they often used for ambush purposes.
But of course, he’s not going to send off anyone without making sure they know what they’re doing.
“If you were going to take and defend this fortress, how would you do it?”
Temari is the best, so Temari sits on Uncle Ryozen's lap. Occasionally she reaches for his glass (which he won't share), but mostly she's just content curling up and zapping warmth from him. Gaara can have Yasha.

Apparently, it’s that time of the evening when all the children pick their favorite pillow to sleep in. And he is one such pillow. Surprisingly. Given Temari’s initial... distrust of him. Hah.

A beat. “I can read minds.”
“You’re not going to like it,” Ryozen said, shaking his head when she reached for his glass. Again.
“If you close your eyes and count to 100 slowly--- in your head, in your head. You shouldn’t say it out loud. Your mom will bring out the hot chocolate for you, okay?”
Although, ideally, you fall asleep before then.

Both? The general rule for Ryozen is that if it benefits him, then he’s for it. If it doesn’t, he’s against it.
Like, Ryōzen’s physique, outward persona, his reputation. It’s a very... manly man sort of thing? Mainly because society views these attributes with the lens of power. And power is something Ryōzen both wants to attract and needs to project.
Does that mean he only relegates men into positions of power? Absolutely not. He’s not going to let go of some of the best minds just because they’re women. He tries to take as much of them as he can. Sometimes, strategically using their “societal invisibility” for his purposes--- most of his spies are women.
So most of the gender roles is... a performance. In reality, like most things, Ryōzen doesn’t really give a shit.

This is a bit awkward since you also RP Sasori. But around 6 years ago, I had a Sasori and Karura ship that was not at all wholesome. We weren’t playing it as such. Bla bla bla. We’ve been shipping it for like... a year? Or so? Then this Temari RPer goes to my ask box and--- I guess insists on RPing something to potentially break the relationship? Or something?
Which was meh, I should have known better than to have started that thread of RPing. So I stopped it. Then they went wild in my ask box saying that they hate the ship, and now they hate the characters, bla bla bla. Then, they went wild in my friend who’s RPing Sasori’s ask box. Then, when we tried to ignore them, they went wild in the tag. I think there’s still one post out there that they had up, I forgot what happened to the others.

It’s not like a bad bad experience. Just... surreal? Could you believe someone would go to those lengths to be angry? Surreal.

Apparently, from what people tell me, I don’t get mad often. When I do, it is often unexpected, and is never something I personally? consider anger? So it doesn’t really last.
I don’t need to be mad for people to be on my shitlist though.

Considering that I have been here since... 6 years. Apparently. Biggest change for me is that some of the best world builders of the olden days have moved on and that’s sad. Except @desertgourd Can you believe it? I get nostalgic thinking we’ve been RPing since 6 years ago with Gaara and Karura meeting in ninja heaven.
