BBC AMERICA Takeover at NYCC: Friday, October 7 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden
The BBC AMERICA panels on Friday, October 7 will be in a new venue for the convention â The Theater at Madison Square Garden. For the first time ever, NYCC will present panels for its biggest lineup of film and TV programs in this iconic venue. The line-up announced today will include Class, Doctor Who, Dirk Gentlyâs Holistic Detective Agency and The Walking Dead.
BBC AMERICA presents the first ever US panel for new series Class, the Doctor Who spin-off, set in Shoreditch, London. Â Four Coal Hill School students who have hidden secrets and desires, navigate a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow â and possibly the end of existence. Fear is coming, tragedy is coming, war is coming. From award-winning YA writer and Class creator and executive producer Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls) and executive produced by the team behind Doctor Who, Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin,the series stars exciting young new talents Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah. Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. Time travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. BBC AMERICAâs Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi will make his New York Comic Con debut along with the first ever fan appearance by new co-star Pearl Mackie, who joins the series as Bill, the Doctorâs new companion. When Pearl joined the cast, Emmy-winning lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat teased âa new voyage is about to beginâ and âthis is where the story really starts.â Fans will get a sneak peek of whatâs ahead including the upcoming Christmas Special this December on BBC AMERICA and hints on whatâs in store for Steven Moffatâs final season as showrunner. BBC AMERICA presents the world premiere screening and Q&A for its next original series Dirk Gentlyâs Holistic Detective Agency, ahead of its broadcast premiere on October 22. From the studio that brought you The Walking Dead, BBC AMERICAâs Dirk Gentlyâs Holistic Detective Agency is an adaptation of the novels from Douglas Adams (Hitchhikerâs Guide to the Galaxy, Doctor Who).
When the bizarre murder of a millionaire thrusts loner Todd (Elijah Wood), into the orbit of Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett) â an eccentric detective who believes theyâre destined to solve the murder-mystery together â his life will never be the same. Theyâll cross unlikely paths with a bevy of wild and dangerous characters, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth.
