Gonna add:
The reason the proposal is not "raise every girl as a boy" is because this has been largely discussed in feminist circles as a positive thought experiment. The suggestion implies: raise girls not to lack in strength, ambition, assertiveness, opportunity, and freedom to their peers. The knee-jerk reaction anti-feminists have to this stem from unchecked belief that the freedoms afforded to boys are unnatural and unbecoming to a girl.
"Raise every boy as a girl" elicits a knee-jerk reaction from every side of the political sphere. What do we think of when we ask what raising boys as girls would look like? Does that seem demeaning? Objectifying? Abusive?
Let's say we removed any perceived axis of privilege from the gendered aspects of how we raise children.
Does the idea of raising a boy as a girl by default, if gendered qualities are equally valued, still seem more outrageous than the inverse? If so, maybe femininity, by default, should not be forcibly imposed on anyone over the other.
Now what you consider limiting may say a lot about your personal definition of raising somebody as a girl, even theoretically.
