1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?

// his full name is Mercutio Bart Hamel – his middle name is his father’s first name. he was named after Mercutio from Romeo & Juliet, because his parents were obsessed with Shakespeare and liked the name. the name Mercutio is derived from the Roman god Mercury.

3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?

// he did have a good childhood! his fondest memories are the ones that have to do with him performing in plays, or that have to do with his parents taking him out to see plays. a bad memory would be his junior high performance of Romeo & Juliet; the only reason he got the part of Mercutio was because his name was Mercutio, and he had tried out for TIBULT. he still gave his all in the performance, but the play was horrendous because he was the only one who cared and, because of that, everyone made fun of him for “being way too into Shakespeare.”

6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?

// as to be expected, he was the theater nerd who tried out for every show. he was also super friendly and outgoing, so he had a foot in a lot of different cliques, but he could also be rather gossipy and sassy (once he got older lmao). he thoroughly enjoyed school, despite the occasional days where things went inevitably terrible. he went on to college and he majored in theater and minored in horticulture. (haven’t decided if he went for bachelors or masters yet.) he, of course, loved theater, most of his english classes, most of his history classes, and the sciences (particularly botany oriented classes). he hated math. with a passion. still does.

// yes! he was and is a very extroverted and outgoing person– so he made a lot of friends, but he has not remained friends with any of them for one reason or another (especially the “friends” he made in college, freshman-sophomore year).

// he typically just eats what he wants, now, but he’s also sure not to over indulge TOO much. he does have slight lactose intolerance, so he has to be careful of that.

// his biggest fear is something happening to Aster, and he can’t do anything about it. other than that, he’s not a big fan of spiders or mice/rats – he’s got what some call a “girly scream” whenever he sees one of those, and he’ll insist someone else deal with it (unless he’s alone, then he’ll try to deal with it himself and take over an hour to do so). oh also. he fucking HATES clowns.
