Happy Halloween from The Karate Kid (1984)
The Day After Halloween
Happy Poetry Comics Month! Todayâs poem is an Ubi sunt - a form of poetry expressing the temporary nature of life, beautyâŠand Halloween. Iâll be sharing more Poetry Comics throughout November - you can post your own with the hashtag #poetry comics month.Â
Nightmare Before Christmas in a nutshell
Other than Wrath of Ruthless Ruth, any other âHalloween/spooky themed episodes or scenesâ for Halloween to watch? Maybe âRace to the Spireâ when that hand chases Eugene?
Nah, not that scene. That's way too comical to be spooky. XD
You know, I made a few gifsets of spooky things from S1 back in the day, but because of computer issues at the time, I never continued it. Let's see what I can recall, and add to it:
"Pascal's Story" - The prologue scene with the snake in the thunder storm. Not "spooky" per say, but horror movie-esque.
"Painter's Block" - Go ahead and watch the whole thing. The theme of possession is spooky enough as it is, but things just get more and more intense as the episode goes, adding demons to the already tense situation.
"Rapunzel and the Great Tree" - If nothing else, watch the initial "Reverse Incantation" scene, when Rapunzel's hair and eyes go black and she actually sings the Reverse Incantation, killing the plants and draining the life from everyone in the room.
"Mirror, Mirror" - The episode begins with a thunderstorm and includes doppelgangers and a straight up monster version of Rapunzel with glowing red eyes, clawed hands, and unnatural movements.
"Rapunzeltopia" - Start when the dream starts to go bad for her and watch to the end.
âLost and Foundâ - One scene and one scene only: when thereâs all those skeletons with eyeballs, and then it turns out the eyeballs are spiders. DO NOT WATCH IF YOUâRE ARACHNOPHOBIC!
"Destinies Collide" - I mean... there's an entire room full of ghosts at one point. XD If nothing else, watch that scene.
âWhoâs Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?â - WEREWOLF EPISODE! Need I say more?
"Be Very Afraid" - Another that I wouldn't really call spooky, but it does deal with nightmares, biggest fears, and there's a touch of body horror (being frozen in place).
If you see any kids who look too old to be trick-or-treating do not turn them away, they might be time-traveling secret agents on a mission to save the pistachio from extinction who donât understand the etiquette because Halloween no longer exists in their timeline.Â

over the garden wall is a perfect cartoon. itâs short enough to watch in just over an hour on halloween night, perfect for getting your spooky on, you will literally be thinking about it for the rest of your life
I need to watch this sometime. I keep hearing itâs great, itâs spooky and old-timey, and it has both Elijah Wood and Shirley Jones.
I made this post exactly a year ago. I have, in that time, watched Over The Garden Wall.
I had no idea.
Some of my favourite promo shots of the cast of Dracula (1931). Béla Lugosi, David Manners, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye, and Edward Van Sloan (L-R).

Ghosts by Katherine Blower
you ever catch a glimpse of a cloud passing in front of a full moon and youâre suddenly a highwayman in an 18th century ghost story who just left a tavern on a chilly october night to ride horseback through the woods till you reach the next town over
The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.  Â
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.  Â
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,  Â
And the highwayman came ridingâ

The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.
This will be so advantageous for the neighborhood!
