At first Linda didn't believe what the smaller dragon was saying. But when the Azureon mentioned that she saw outrage, the mienshao felt something that she hasn't felt in a while.
She was shocked. If not for a just a moment.
Being caught off guard like this, now she has some questions.
The dragoness closes her eyes in a pensive look and raises a hand in front of her. "Okay back up a little bit." She started, now raising an eyebrow as she looked down at Dravol with suspicion. "What do you mean you have power over fear?" She asked, leaning forward a little. Briefly looking the smaller dragon up and down. "Is that something you're naturally able to do? Because I don't think I've seen your kind before."
Dravol fidgeted a little at the suspicion, likely not helping it, but she pressed on when Linda looked her over and shook her head.
"No, it's not a natural ability to my kind. I am what is known as an 'incarnate.' We're a group of 8 Pokemon that have control over a singular emotion."
"My power over Fear means I can 'feel' when other beings are feeling fear. It allows me to also 'see' what that being's fear is."
"When I looked at you, what I saw was the red fire of the move 'Outrage'."
Dravol was a touch on the shy side about it all, and spoke once more, "I'm sorry if I spoke out of turn."
I was a late entry to the @pokeaskzine so my contribution was just the one big picture outside of the theme. I decided to use the back cover of @asksavel's book, since I had just finished it when I threw my entry their way. ^^~
Hello Pokéask community. today, we are gathered here to talk about a rather pervasive issue within the community.
That's right, we are going to talk about:
TRANSMISOGYNY
I don't really need a preamble or anything. Yes, it's true, this community has historically been quite hostile to trans women. I've had a friend targeted with false accusations of being a creepy pervert for the crime of being trans and female. As if that is a crime, somehow.
We had a predator and known drama-monger some couple years ago who was able to get away with it for so long because most of their victims were trans fem, whom no one believed, because they were trans fem.
And of course we have had various incidents of people using any number of gross terms to refer to trans women, gleefully and casually.
So by now you are probably beginning to see the pattern.
Maybe you need some help. In that case I shall enlighten you...
So what is transmisogyny? It is exactly what it says on the tin: the discrimination and mistreatment of trans women. It is an intersection of transphobia and misogyny. As such it is both of those as well.
Why is it bad? Well, the better question to ask would be why *isn't* it bad? It serves no purpose beyond the spread of hatred as well as perpetuating the belief that women are like property that must look and act a certain way.
Who does it affect? Obviously the primary target is trans women, and you should care about the fact that it harms trans women. But in fact, transmisogyny affects everyone.
You might think "I don't hate trans women, so I'm not transmisogynistic!" and you may not be. But, you must also keep in mind that it is so deeply entrenched in society that you might say and do transmisogynistic things without knowing it.
For example:
Do you expect women or female characters to look a certain way? This could be plain old misogyny, but it could also be transmisogyny. If you've ever complained that a female character looks too much like a guy because her boobs are too small or her shoulders are too wide, etc., well yeah ... you are probably suffering from transmisogyny disease. And also general misogyny disease too, seeing as transmisogyny is a subtype of it.
Do you get grossed out by women with certain types of genitalia, insisting they censor themselves as some sort of fetish or otherwise sequester themselves away for the sake of others? It is transmisogyny. Regardless of what you are attracted to, a woman should not be forced to hide herself away as some kind of freak commodity simply because she is not what you personally consider desirable. Also, people are likely forced to interact with you on the regular, so it just makes you a hypocrite.
Do you refer to women by what is between their legs*? It is transmisogyny. It's a way to other women that do not fit the "norm".
Obviously, assuming any given trans woman is a secret pervert is transmisogyny. This may seem obvious but so many people do this! In LGBT focused spaces perhaps most of all!
there are many other examples but most tie back into the ones mentioned here. Please do a little introspection from time to time.
Trans women deserve to feel as safe and as welcome as anyone else here in this community.
Lastly: this post is about trans WOMEN (/trans fems). I am aware that other trans people exist, but there are certain pervasive attitudes that are near exclusively shown towards trans WOMEN, and so that is what this post is about.
*some trans women do refer themselves with such terms. There is a lot of debate about this matter, so try not to overstep if it is a trans woman herself using the term. She may be a victim of internalised transmisogyny but what people are comfortable with varies. But, never use terms like futanari or trap if you are not a transfem individual. Read the room.
The mienshao paused for a moment, turning to look off towards horizon as she thought about how to answer Dravol.
Time froze for the fear incarnate as her light activated from Linda revisiting an old memory. And was left horrified by what she witnessed in it. However she quickly snapped back to reality when she heard Linda continue, who didn't notice the look on her face yet.
"It's not something I talk about that often. But it's also something I can't really ignore. It's been taking a long time and has been a lot of work. But hey, I wouldn't worry about eavesdropping. I'll be able to handle it one day. And it's not like there are any walls out here for privacy."
The dragoness let out a sigh as she turned to face Dravol and attempts to change the subject.
"Anyways, what about you? What's stopping you from going home?" She asked before she realized something was bothering the azureon.
"Hey are you alright?" She asked with both a tone and look of slight concern. "You look like you saw a ghost or something."
Dravol had witnessed many things, things when she was corrupted that she would never forget. What she saw when her powers activated was a scene she had conducted herself.
She rubbed her front leg with the other and looked down before looking back up. There was no mistaking the move she had seen.
"I'm very familiar with the move. I once had an army of dragons when I was... in a different life. So I recognise the move easily."
The reason for this is because, frankly, I do have 4 of these left, and I decided that because I had such wonderful entries, I have chosen TWO people instead of just one to give away to as I really want to take advantage of the postal discount I currently have before it runs out.
If anyone would still like to purchase the book still, with the postal discount still active, please PM me. ovo I only have two left now.
The digital copy of the book will go on sale on October 1st for $20AUD. This is about $13USD. ^^~
Thanks for entering my giveaway, and congrats to the winners~!
I’d love to know more about the other Watchers. What are they like/up to?
The Beholders all got reincarnated into all different Pokemon scattered about the world. Not all of them became Watchers, but the ones who did all made their way to Sinnoh or Johto to the Sinjoh ruins to meet Gladius, who gave them the collar.
The ones in particular I have in mind is the angry Glaceon became a Pidgeot, and one of the Flareons became a Charizard. I actually was considering having a small scene where said Pidgeot was seen on Mt Silver, watching Dravol and Laivan interact, but I never got there sadly.
Over the years, the Watchers did follow Dravol along when she went to different regions, wherever they lived. They all talked to each other via Gladius and the new Beholder system. After about 50 or so years, the Watchers watch over Dravol dwindled because it became clear she had reformed.
By the time she was elderly, the Watchers were pretty much gone, having done their duty. ^^~
While I have a very high postage discount, I want to take advantage of that and I am offering ONE COPY to give away to one lucky follower.
Note that the Kickstarter bonuses, such as the bookmark and extra gifts WILL NOT be given out as that was, and will remain, exclusive to the Kickstarter and its backers.
(For the curious, the postage discount I managed to earn only lasts a month, hence the urgency aha)
The giveaway ends on the 15th of August, strictly.

@askstormscall: A bottle has mysteriously appeared, still soaking wet with a scent of salt to it. Safely inside is a letter. The sender calligraphy seemed to have definitely improved but there's a botch of ink at the bottom as if something spilled... Oops.
"Hi, hello! I am trying to a new greetings this time. Something that is more me! I hope the little ghost finds this letter! I feel I didn't get to speak with her before my brother ruined things. If little ghost finds this, please send one back so we can chat more often! Maybe i can show you more island things! Coconuts are savory but we have much better fruit on here!"
"Hello Mariko!
I'd be happy to visit! I'm travelling around the world, though. Where are you? I'll come by if I'm in the area, hehe~
I'd love to try ALL the foods! I love sweets! Maybe I can even talk to your brother too!
I have been following Skin's blogs since Terrakion, so yes, I used art fight as an excuse to draw one of their many amazing characters. With Ask-Savel ending recently, I decided to pick my fav character from that story. The amazingly complex and beautiful, Dravol! (I also really like Azureon too)
