Thank you for reading ask-impatient-samurott!! The story is now fully complete. Thank you again for everyone who interacted and supported my funny little askblog in its 5 1/2 year run!

As I've previously said, this blog will still be open for questions, but any and all questions will be answered exclusively through text replies from now on. I will also still be using these characters to send asks myself.

As for what's in store...

Ask-impatient-samurott will have a sequel askblog! It will have all new characters and go into what was behind the Second Darkest Day as well as all the loose ends I've left dangling. Kappa and Nema's story may be finished, but the world still has some mysteries left to solve...

I do not know when the next askblog will release! Right now, I only have a barebones plot mapped out and I want to make sure I have it all planned out this time. (UNLIKE WITH THE BEGINNING OF THIS BLOG LOL)

In the meantime, my main blog @sourdoughsbreadpan will be more active now that I no longer have to worry about keeping this blog updated lol. I will ALSO be starting a small, itty bitty second askblog within the next couple of months. I will mostly just be using it to send asks and focus on making much shorter stories!

Something else I have in the works are two comics! A PMD one and a Clangen one. I have yet to decide which one I'll do first...

TLDR; I have ideas all the time and will probably never stop making stories. XD

Anyhow, I'll be reopening asks! Send to me or to the characters! A NOTE: I will not be accepting any asks that may "further the plot" as it were. As an example, Nema is perpetually on her way back home. "How did Marigold react to your return" or anything similar will be deleted. It is up to your imagination how their reunion went. ;)

Nema plopped down into Mochi's hand and shuddered involuntarily. She hadn't realized how cold she was until she felt the warmth of Mochi's hand. Being partially made of inorganic material would take some getting used to.

Nema's vision shifted. Her ride had taken off.

Suddenly, Giant Chasm was just a small divet between the mountains. Nema watched as she got further and further away, her gravesite indistinguishable from the trees. If she could help it, she'd never return.

She turned in Mochi's hands, facing forward. If she squinted, she could see the coast. She spoke confidently about being able to get home once she was in Undella, but only now did she realize how long of a trip it would be for a Pokemon of her size. Maybe the trip would be a good time for reflection? Bleh.

Nema took in as big a breath as her ghost lungs could allow. Then let it out. There were a lot of things she was avoiding thinking about. And trying to reconnect with her friends, what, maybe only half an hour after she rose from the dead? She was definitely going too fast. She just wanted out of the chasm, really.

She focused on the feeling of the wind coasting by her face.

Maybe it'll be okay. She doesn't know what the future holds...

But, at least she's willing to see.

“Quite an ordeal you’ve been through, ey, hun?” Sina says softly, floating beside Nema.

“I might not know much, but this Pokemon . . Marigold, was it? They care ‘bout you a lot, right?”

“If that’s so,” Sina gives Nema a smile, “I’m sure they’ll still love you, no matter how much you’ve changed.” The polteageist stares off into the distance, a bit of sadness in their gaze as their smile drops for a moment.

“But change does not come easily. It’ll be difficult, hun.”

Sina turns back to Nema, smiling once more.

“So take all the time ye need”

A sad little sniffle came from Nema. She wasn't able to stop her sniffling before Sina had left. Aw, she wanted to say thank you...

Nema lowered herself to the ground again, thoughtful. She replayed the other Pokemon's words back in her head.

Lots of things have changed, but we can't know how Marigold will react. Those words sat heavy in her ears. It wasn't what she wanted to hear, but it's what she needed to understand.

If she wanted to go back to Marigold, she had to give them some leniency. After all, how would she react of Marigold were the Sinistea in this situation?

...

Nema took in a few deep breaths. She felt like she was ready to go.

To nema: I imagine all of this can be quite a bit to process. But uh, welcome back?

I heard sinistea goes through several cups before finding one that's perfect for them. If your not familiar with yours maybe we can find another?

Pictures of overly fancy teacups flickered through Nema's mind. If she could change her teacup, would she?

She was suddenly reminded of how much she missed going window shopping with her friends. Hovering around store windows, piling together what little funds they had to see if they could afford that cute toy in the window... That was nice.

Maybe if she found Marigold again, they could do that together.

Nema was thankful for these other Pokemon. Their voices seemed to ground her and calm her down.

Mochi: (@ Nema) Oh gosh, oh jeez—Um, do you need someone to carry you? I can teleport you to a Pokémon Center maybe?

Nema whipped around as quickly as her tiny porcelain body could allow.

[Nema]

"Hhiii-!?"

Nema's voice came out in shocked waves. She was so deep in her own mind, she wasn't expecting yet another person to approach her.

She coughs and clears her throat. She holds her head in her hand, embarrassed. She turns toward Mochi.

Nema no longer had the capacity to blush, but if she still could, she'd be bright red.

[Nema]

"...I really appreciate the offer though. I don't really..."

Nema paused. Hang on. If she thought about it for more than a moment... Having a Pokemon that could fly take her back to civilization would be helpful. She desperately wanted out of the chasm, and did not know how to get back to the main road. If she tried to go herself, she'd probably get lost.

"Um, actually! W-would it be okay if you took me back to Undella Town? I'd be able to find my way around by myself if I got there."

Mochi brightened. “I’d be happy to help! I’ll get us there in two shakes of a Mareep’s tail.”

Hey Brainstem, why did you choose to bring Nema back the way you did? Was it just easier for someone to be reborn as a ghost pokemon, or was there some other reason?

Hehe.

Well, I was just thinking. It would've been kinda problematic to just have her return as if she had never died. Numerous Pokemon know of her death and two Pokemon actually saw it happen.

I thought it would've been more fun to bring her back as a ghost. Fewer Pokemon would question it, and the people keeping me here wouldn't be able to interfere without kicking up a fuss.

Brainstem's voice was low. Not as excitable and exaggerated as it usually was. She seemed to be Lazer focused on the "screen" in front of her. It showed Nema.

Getting someone to place that teacup at her memorial was hard, she better appreciate it! Too bad I couldn't land her a genuine, though. Mm.

Nema is back, but as a ghost type.

Marigold stomped angrily around their television and turned a sharp corner. He stopped short in front of her bathroom door.

[Marigold]

"Don't pretend like you don't know how ghost resurrection works. If the Pokemon is meant to become a Ghost-type, they will resurrect within the next few days. Do you have ANY IDEA how long it's been since she died!?"

"Do you have ANY idea how many times I returned to Giant Chasm in the months following, hoping that she had come back!?"

Marigold takes in a sharp, dry breath.

"...No. If she was meant to resurrect, she would have done so already."

Marigold slid into their bathroom. After a few minutes, the sound of the showerhead turning on squeaks from behind the door."

@Nema: Hello Nema, I can only imagine how bizarre and scary this must be for you. You died. Yet somehow you return. I imagine you'd wish to reunite with those you care for.

But...you've been gone for a while. The world is not the same. Time has eroded the places you know, the relationships that were left behind. Friendships broken, paths split. Who would you return to? Could you? Everyone has gone on their own journeys, changed locations. Is there a way to even know where they are? To contact them? .....should you?

I...imagine you harbor negative feelings towards Kappa. It would be fair to downright loathe her. She killed you after all. Why give her a bit of peace with all she's done to you? To Marigold?

And what about him? Marigold who has mourned you, gone through the terrible emotion called grief over you. Do you return to her? Would that be better for them? Or worse?

Everyone has been living with your death for a while. Do you finally see your loved ones again at the cost of opening up old wounds that only just started to heal?

You returned but.....at what cost? You are a different pokemon with a different body coming back to a different world. Things are clearly different now- so who's to say your friends aren't? What if your friends are unrecognizable now? Is there anything left for you? Should you just start anew?

Nema froze, her ears sticking straight up.

Her friends had moved on without her... Well, that's okay. Nema didn't expect or want them to grieve her forever. She still had Marigold, after all!

Thump.

Marigold... Would they take her back?

...How long has it been since she died?

Thump. Thump.

Nema's breath came out in quick, ragged gasps. These were not thoughts she wanted to entertain.

No, no. If she went back, Marigold would accept her. Right? They'd shriek with joy at her return, give her a big hug, and everything would go back to the way it was before. No drama, no trauma, no death.

The only thing that was different was she was a... different Pokemon. No longer a Pikachu, just a teacup.

But, that was okay! Marigold would still love her, wouldn't he?

He would accept her if she came back, right?

He would still love her...

Right..?

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Nema was loathe to recall what brought her to this point. The more she thought about it, the more she had to contend with the implications.

[Nema] "I remember... fighting Kappa."

"...Yeah, yeah. She had Dynamaxed because the Wishing Star in the chasm exploded. And she got all big..."

Her voice faded in and out as she slowly recalled the hour of her death.

"She caught me in her mouth, but Jean saved me, and- Hhhk-!"

Nema hissed and slapped a liquid arm over the right side of her face. Oh yeah, half her face was torn off. How could she forget?

She remembered how much her cheek buzzed. The adrenaline pistoning through her veins.

She ran her new hand over her new face. Her hand was lukewarm. Made of bitter tea. Her face was cold. Made of cracked porcelain.

Speaking of her hand, wasn't that also bitten off? Ugh.

"Oh! I tried to use Thunder, yeah. Kappa was low health and I had the type advantage, so I thought I could knock her out, but..."

"After that, all I remember is feeling... really cold."

"I used Thunder, I closed my eyes, and then... I was here."

Nema looked out at her surroundings. Giant Chasm was still and quiet. Save for the chilly wind that whistled through the hole on the east end. The scar in the earth that used to mark Team Plasma's battleship had filled with rainwater and become a pool. The northeastern corner, where Kyurem's cave used to be was completely overtaken by a landslide.

And behind her, a massive welt in the wall where Kappa was flung backward by the Pokemon who tried to stop her.

It was clear to Nema that quite a while had passed between now and when she died.

(@ask-teamlightbringers) Armani carefully inspected Nema, giving the Sinistea as much space as needed to ensure she did not feel crowded. "Oh... oh you poor dear. How long have you been awake like this? You must be terrified. I remember I was when I... when I went through this for the first time." They lifted their mask a little to indicate their similar fate. "This body... it is very different from the one you were in before. How are you adjusting? It took me quite a while to be used to moving without legs."

Nema could only remember being cold. She was woken up by a harsh breeze that tore through Giant Chasm. It looked... a lot different than she remembered it. The wound in the wall behind her for instance...

No, wait... She remembers. It's where those other Pokemon pushed Kappa back. But, what happened after that..?

Nema's eyes wandered down to Armani's mask. She immediately put the pieces together.

[Nema] "This is a thing that happens frequently..? That's awful..."

Nema shook her head. She was surprised to find that her entire body moved with that motion.

"I knew that when Pokemon or Humans died that sometimes they can come back as Ghost-types, but..."

But, I never thought it would happen to me. She didn't finish her sentence.

She looked at Armani's mask again at the mention of legs. At the strange tendril that held it. That must've been their legs at some point.

Nema tried to look down at where her own legs should be, but struggled. Her face was a pattern on a cup. It didn't offer much mobility.

But, she didn't need to see to confirm what she felt. Her entire body was an amorphous mass, and nowhere in it did she feel her legs.

Anyways, kinda heard that Pokémon reincarnate into Ghost types. How do ya feel, anyway?

Nema's new porcelain body made a sad clinking noise as it hit the earth. Keeping herself in the air took some concentration she wasn't used to giving.

A quiet 'clikclikclikclikr' resonated through the gash in the chasm's wall. Nema was shaking.

[Nema] "...Is this... real? Am I... alive? I don't...."

A shuddering sob erupted from whatever she had that passed as a throat.

"H-help me..."
