Movie 6 of 2016: Allegiant 🌟🌟 (2 stars) Three Thoughts 1) WTF did I just watch?!? Seriously this was so epically bad - too much obvious green screen, poor special effects, ridiculous moments, bad acting, too many close ups, so many weird camera angles, & not a whole ton of plot 2) not sure where else this can go and really think it suffers more for being 2 movies - though I haven't read book so really can't compare on accuracies or how much detail is in book and what covered in movie 3) best part was Peter - he's still a Weasly douche but he had the best lines in the movie. Such a perfect casting too. Book 28 of 2016: The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson 🌟🌟 (2 stars) Three Thoughts 1) I struggled so hard with this one there wasn't a whole lot to the plot and most of book had MC talking about food, elevating food, or thinking about food when food wasn't focus it was all religion religion religion 2) hated the body shaming - the MC was so self depreciating and when she was fat she was naive and overlooked and of little use but when she becomes skinny she's strong and fierce and respected ruler who is listed after by men 3) the world building was better than in most YA fantasy but there was no explanation for the war and the ending was so rushed and anticlimactic. Bonus thought: super heavy overly flowery prose.
