some   headcanons   to   elaborate   more   on   at   a   later   date  :

 pat’s   got   dyslexia    &    ADD   (  or  ADHD  predominantly   inattentive   type  ,   as   it’s   known   formally   in   medical   terminology   now .  )       he   has   both   of   these   on   a   severe   level    &    both   have   gone   almost   entirely   untreated  .       these   are   also   in   combination   with   a   clear   intellectual   disability  ,   also   untreated  .       these   are   all   undiagnosed   as   well  .

 his   parents   pay   little   attention   to   him  ,   &    heavily   treat   him   like   a   child  /  “baby   him”  .        typically   they   ignore   his   mental   disabilities    &    instead   they   simply   treat   him   like   he’s   an   idiot   which   helps   little   with   his   perception   of   himself    &    tends   to   lead   to   him   going   to   great   lengths   to   prove   himself   to   his   parents   as   well   others  .       their   neglect   to   correctly   treat    &    look   into   his   learning   difficulties   has   also   lead   to   patrick   developing   extreme   codependency   issues  .

 while   he   seems   often   content   to   be   who   he   is    &    care   little   what   others   think   of   him  ,   pat   hates   to   be   thought   of   as   stupid  .       it   frustrates   him   when   he   cannot   comprehend   things   or   when   he’s   behind  .       when   left   alone   he’s   content  ,   but   when   provoked   he   easily   becomes   agitated    &    defensive   in   proving   he’s   not   incapable  .        there   are   only   select   times    &    people   that   he   allows   jabs   towards   him   pass   with  .

 he   has   occasional   episodes   of   anger   or   depressiveness  .       only   spon.gebob   seems   to   be   able   to   successfully   console   him   out   of   these   when   they   come   about  .

 spon.gebob   was   the   first   person   to   not   treat   him   like   just   some   idiot  .

 spon.gebob   was   the   first   person   to   not   make   him   feel   like   an   idiot  .

 spon.gebob  ,   to   this   day  ,   is   the   main   thing   in   patrick’s   life   that   keeps   him   from   believing   he’s   some   useless   idiot  .

 few   things   delight   him   more   than   people   simply   listening   to   him  /  his   ideas   with   genuine   interest  .       being   told   what   he’s   saying   is   cool   or   that   he   had   a   great   idea   are   some   of   the   best   things   you   could   possibly   say   to   him  .

 he   doesn’t   have   a   job  ,   his   parents   pay   for   most   his   expenses  .     his   family   is   very   wealthy  ,   actually  .      (  technically   there   was   an   episode   that   revealed   he’s   a   descendant   of   royalty  .  )
