What is shifting and how to shift?
Shifting is the act of shifting your focus of attention and becoming aware of yourself in a different reality.
Essentially, to shift you need to move your focus of attention into another reality. You do this by:
a) deciding that you are already in your desired reality,
b) becoming aware of yourself as the person from that DR,
c) not checking 3D — fully immersing in visualization, affirmations, or whatever method you use.
My favorite approach is the five‑senses method. It goes like this:
1. Get into a comfortable position and set your intention to shift your focus.
2. Start visualizing a scene from your DR using all five senses:
- Vision: what do you see around you?
- Hearing: what do you hear?
- Smell: what scent do you notice?
- Taste: what taste is in your mouth?
- Touch: pick up or imagine touching an object — what does it feel like?
3. Switch between the five senses, fully engaging with the DR — alternate vision, hearing, smell, etc., so the experience becomes vivid.
As an addition to this method, you can plan your day in the DR. Decide what you’ll do when you wake up, what your day will look like overall — and so on. Gradually immerse yourself in the idea that you’re already there. By planning your day in the desired reality, you may not even notice when you shift.
Successful shifting doesn’t require anything complicated. It’s enough to visualize — or, if you have aphantasia, simply count yourself as already there — and to take on the identity of the person from your desired reality. Quality beats quantity: it’s not how many actions you do, but how fully you involve your attention in the process. Try to fully engage yourself and your attention in the experience, rather than constantly asking, “Where am I now? Did I shift yet?”
