In the Haematology department, there was a sickle cell test that needed to be manually tested. The negative control is on the left, followed by the positive control and the patients sample.The determination for a positive result is when the lines behind the tubes are no longer visible. These samples however have been centrifuged as the patient sample was difficult to determine. The result here shows the sickled cells forming a 'scum' layer on top, the patient sample doesn't have this, although does have a proteinous layer that had originally caused the cloudy consistency. -Meg Turner, RBH 🤓
