In Dreams
"Yeah, but when you get bigger, people still won’t mess with us I’m sure." Well, she hoped anyway. Liza knew there were some who were dumb enough to mess with dragons, but she sure as hell hoped they wouldn’t cross paths with anyone like that. A frown tugged at her lips at his sad tone, and all she could really do was stroke his scales and let him nuzzle against her. "Well, you have me. And you’ll have this other dragon when we finally find him. You’re not alone."
The little toothy grin he gave made her laugh and shake her head, but his words gave her hope. Made her feel like maybe she did matter, that she was the only one who could help the older dragon. “That’s pretty neat, being told you have a soul worthy of a dragon. Too bad I cant have wings like you, though. Would sure make traveling a lot faster.” She teased lightly, still slightly in awe of what Drogon had just told her. Trust yourself, she knew it’d be hard, not just that but the adventure they were undertaking as well. Liza knew it would all be worth it, though. Or at least she hoped it would, even when she woke maybe it would instill some confidence in her.
"A box, hm?" She asked, arching a brow and turning her head to glance around the room. Liza let out a sigh and felt her brows pull together, but when she saw something just under the end of the bed she smiled. "Here— maybe it’s a little big for now, but it’ll work at least until we find something a bit smaller." Liza suggested, grabbing the handle of the foot locker and tugging it out just enough so they could open the top. Just a moment later though, Drogon was saying they were leaving and she felt the ship moving even more than before. Standing, she walked over to the window and smiled, biting the inside of her cheek.
"Here’s hoping I don’t get seasick." She teased again, glancing over her shoulder at her dragon.
And if they did, then I would just eat them. Or, pretend to want to eat them. The old one says not to eat them, that they taste disgusting if not washed and you would not like it if I did. Drogon huffed, looking like a petulant teenager for a moment. Mean dragon ruins all my fun. He blinked golden eyes up at Liza, trying to pick back up where the conversation was as if he'd been distracted by something internal. In reality, Drakon had lost track of the conversation for a moment as the mention of food wracked his form with pain. He was starving, how undignified. He had to have been in this accursed cell for centuries.
He huffed at her mentioning having wings. When I'm a little bigger I can probably fly! He grinned at her again, and his real life embodiment smiled slightly at the idea of taking the little wisp of a woman for a flight. She could lay in his palm without any part of her dangling over the edge of his claw. Drogon watched her walk as he tucked his hoard into the box and curled up on top of it when finished. I can help with your seasickness. I have magic for that! The old one is grousing at me that I shouldn’t use magic for everything but magic is so fun!
Drogon chuffed quietly and a small tuft of smoke snorted from his nostrils. Did you see that! I smoked! I did it! Drakon nearly rolled his eyes at the caricature like persona he was giving her. Just a little while longer until she woke. Once she joined him again he’d have advanced the journey as best he could, without seeming unrealistic. This soul was too smart for her own good sometimes.
[text: my dragon] i can’t help it, your suit jackets are always so warm, especially after you’ve been wearing them ;) [text: my dragon] i have seen the dragon one, but i’ll make a not to never send it to you. i’ll stick to winky faces.. [text: my dragon] you know, if val knew you gave in to my cravings as much as she did, she wouldn’t be half as afraid of you as she is… though i gotta admit it’s funny seeing her try to sneak me a big mac.
Liza didn’t have time to think of any sort of punishment or witty remark before she heard his footsteps on the stairs. A grin tugged at her lips and she pulled her sweater tighter around her as she headed for he front door, unsure of whether or not she was more excited about seeing the puppy or the food. Though that question was answered when she opened the door, smiling at Drakon first before her gaze drifted to the sleepy puppy in his arms.
"Oh my God she’s even more precious in person!” She cooed, quickly scooping the pup into her own arms. Her smile was edging on painful as she glanced up and pushed onto her toes to kiss his cheek. “She’s adorable, thank you.”
Elizabeth greeting him was a feeling he’d yet to surpass with a memory or replicate with any business or treasure that didn’t include her. He gently assisted the transfer of the pup and smiled at her delighted tone. He let her give him a peck on the cheek before cupping the back of her neck and pulling her back into a thorough good morning kiss. “You’re welcome, and she is cute.” He nudged her inside and closed the door behind him. “Let’s get the breakfast laid out and let the pup get used to her surroundings.” He grinned as the sleepy puppy roused enough to lick Liza’s sternum and chin before curling back up and going to sleep.
“I thought we could go shopping for her accessories this afternoon? And finish picking out the colors for the nursery?” Drakon never knew there were so many horribly confusing options of crib, carrier, stroller, carseats, and baby foods. He was near overwhelmed with the choices. But Liza seemed to know what she was doing, as did her circle of confidants through the process.
"Stay a bit longer, I want you in my arms." [Drakon]

Liza was just about to roll out of bed when she felt warm fingers closing around her wrist, gently pulling her back into bed as the words were muttered in a voice still groggy from sleep. “Mm— I was going to say you’re gonna make me late for work, then I remembered it’s Saturday. So I suppose I can give in for a bit, but I’ll have to get up at some point. Baby is hungry, which means I’m twice as hungry.” She teased quietly, letting Drakon pull her close again.
A quiet hum left her lips as she curled against him, wiggling her wrist from his grasp to sneak her arm around his waist. “Have I been spending too much time with Val? Or are you always going to drag me back into bed like this? Not that I mind… any excuse to cuddle with you is a good one.” Liza murmured as she pressed a feather-light kiss to his shoulder.
“I am your work so your argument is still null.” He grumped, curling her close, his hand protectively resting over the small swell of her tummy. “I’ll make you breakfast, or take you out to breakfast, which ever you’d like. But in five more minutes.” He purred, burying his face in her hair to saturate himself in her delicate scent. It had changed a little since she’d become pregnant, there was a sweeter bouquet to her scent and he couldn’t get enough of it.
He chuckled at the mention of her best friend and obstetrician. “No, the feathered one has kept you delightfully entertained while I’m not home, I can’t fault her that.” He pressed kisses to the back of her neck and shoulder. Soft nibbles or the occasional taste of her skin breaking the rhythm of soft kiss after kiss. “I’ll always drag you back into bed, beloved.”

Liza saw it from the corner of her eye, the petite blonde from accounting she was somewhat friendly with almost shamelessly flirting with Drakon by the door to his office. She honestly couldn’t even remember what she’d come here for, but her face was flushed and she felt angry— not that she really had any right to, even after the Christmas party and their stargazing weekend, they’d kept their relationship under wraps. She distracted herself quickly, fixing her gaze on the files in her hands, and now remembered that she had to drop them off for him to sign.
Clearing her throat, and with her face still red, she stood and walked over to him, ignoring the fact that they were lingering by the door. “Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt, just had some things to drop off. Get them back to me when they’re signed, please.” She refused to look at him as she walked back out of the office and down the hall to her own, closing the door behind her and plopping rather ungracefully into her chair.
"I said nine-teen!” She repeated, pursing her lips when she realized he was just teasing her, intentionally changing what she said, causing her to huff quietly and roll her eyes. Pain in my butt, Liza thought affectionately, feeling her breath catch as he tipped her chin up so that he could hold her gaze properly. His words sent her heart fluttering, and all she could do was smile at him until he was kissing her. Liza brought her hand up, fingers closing around his wrist gently as she tilted her head slightly, leaning into the hand that was resting on her cheek. The little nip to her bottom lip made her whine slightly, and his next words sent her cheeks pinking. “That’s perfectly alright.” She murmured, knowing just what that intense look in his eyes meant— that he’d have her wearing nothing but those sparkling treasures at some point in time. And frankly, she didn’t mind that in the least.
A quiet sigh escaped when they pulled up to the store and she spotted the paparazzi outside waiting. Stupid vultures, she thought, biting the inside of her cheek as she ran a hand through her hair, fixing it absently while Drakon slid from the car, Liza following suite. She’d never been more grateful for Samuel until now, a smile tugging at her lips as she straightened her blouse.
Taking Drakon’s arm, she made sure to keep him between the photographer and herself, not really caring to have her face put… well, anywhere really. “Here or not, they’re still… frustrating.” She sighed quietly, tucking her hair behind her ear as they walked into the shop, though the moment they did, she understood part of the reason he got so distracted. “Good Lord… they must light these things so perfectly that it makes people want to buy them even more than they already do.” She muttered, blushing a bit when she found his gaze, offering a meek smile.
Drakon didn’t mind the paparazzi, not as he was still grinning over her agreement to wear jewels for him. Then they were in the shop and the scent of gold, platinum and gemstones assailed him and he had to focus for a moment to control the urge to hoard. Hugging Elizabeth close to his side he looked down at her, eyes dilated, nostrils flaring to take in the smell of treasure. “Remember, nineteen minutes.” He whispered, nearly high at the sight of all the sparkling gems. “I’ll listen to you, I promise.”
Then he was leading her around the cases, showing her gems, explaining how they were made, how rare they are. Mr. Stuart finally approached after helping a customer and greeted Drakon with a smile. “Elizabeth, this is Mr. Stuart. Thank you for keeping the appointment. Elizabeth, I’ll be right back, five minutes, honest.” He gave Elizabeth a quick peck on the temple and followed the owner into the back. He nearly purred at the sight of the necklaces for Elizabeth, pleased with his selections. He paid, and gathered up the matte black bag, ready to leave. “Oh, before I’d leave, I would like you to keep your eye out for a perfect diamond, preferably five carats before cutting.”
“Of course, Mr. Kathairese, what for?”
“An engagement ring, but I won’t know what size until I find a setting.”
“I’ll be happy to design something for you. But at a later date, you’re nearly to your five minutes.”
Drakon settled his hand at her lower back once he was back at her side and smiled. “Are you ready for lunch, treasure?” He offered, nearly preening as he was keeping it under the nineteen minutes. “Did you see anything you’d want?” He asked impulsively, glancing over her shoulder to see what she’d been looking at.
[text: my dragon] y'know what we haven't done? we haven't gotten a Christmas tree yet. and it's friday. which means we should leave a little early if you're not busy ;)
[text: Beloved Treasure] Oh well you are quite right.[text: Beloved Treasure] We should, but I request the chance to go change before we go out for any holiday shopping.
Drakon sat back and realized he probably should have warned her he has a massive tree being delivered and decorated as they were at work. But they could have a tree for their room, right?
[text: Beloved Treasure] What does your mother do for the holidays?
[text: my dragon] i think it’d be a nice little thing to get, so yes. we definitely should.
[text: my dragon] just the car should be fine for her— don’t need to overwhelm my mom with fancy things right away, love ;)
[text: my dragon] no, not at the moment at least. i figured maybe we could try and explain it to her when she’s here? it may be easier that way. besides, she knows how important you are to me, and that’s all that really matters.
[text: Beloved Treasure] I think the little one would appreciate it most if it was sparkly ;) Did I ever tell you apparently my teething toy was an emerald the size of a car? I could grip it in my claws and chew to my hearts content.
[text: Beloved Treasure] I never remembered that until now, curious.
[text: Beloved Treasure] The car is on its way. It should be there in four hours.
[text: Beloved Treasure] If you think she will react well to it, then I would of course want to have full disclosure with her. If not, perhaps we can just break the ice with telling her I’m like Odinson, or your feathered friend, assuming she knows of those two.
[text: Beloved Treasure] I would hope she knows that you’re my world.
“I choose you. And I’ll choose you, over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you.”

Liza blushed furiously but continued to smile, her gaze finding their hands and the way they fit together so well. “Was that random and completely weird, I’m sorry—” she said, laughing quietly and shaking her head. Biting the inside of her cheek at his words, she found his eyes and and was glad he thought it funny. “You were a hermit, not anymore though I don’t think. At least not with me, and that’s all that matters.”
Going quiet when he started talking, she listened intently to Drakon’s story, an affectionate, small smile curving her lips as he spoke. Liza felt… honored and glad that he was opening up to her like this, that he trusted her enough to let her know what he had been before. Though she still had so many questions— what’d happened, what was it that had caused him to become so withdrawn before? Liza smiled a little wider at the teasing and shrugged a shoulder. “Maybe. Though to be fair, it seems only right that people go through those kinds of things for whatever it was you were teaching them. Though good luck finding someone who’d willingly go through something like that these days.” She said, quirking a brow and laughing quietly, releasing his hand to reach for her drink.
Brushing his thumb across the back of her hand he smiled, watching the road but certain she’d know it was for her. “This is true, you brought the hermit out of his shell.” Drakon pressed a kiss to her knuckles. The story though made him a little pensive, a little more introspective than he favored when in anyone’s company. “You would be surprised. There are still those in the world that would surpass human expectations. I find them on occasion.”
He cast a curious glance over to her, a question obviously between his brow, curving his lips. “Why don’t you ask me more of my past, Elizabeth? You’re curious by nature, you seek new experiences with delight. Yet you’ve never questioned. Why?” He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and smiled. “You can, you know, you are one of the only ones I would ever trust with that information.”

She’d been minding her own business, for the most part at least, leaning back against the counter and munching on a cookie. Her eyes were skimming over her scheduling book, feeling like she was missing something. Feeling like there should have been something scheduled for Wednesday that wasn’t. Of course the moment she set down the little book was the moment she promptly felt arms going around her waist, throwing her easily over his shoulder like she weighed nothing.
"Hey!" Liza yelped, cheeks burning as she laughed quietly, hanging rather helplessly over Drakon’s shoulder. "Could have at least waited til I finished my snack— or warned me first! What… are you doing with me anyway?” She asked, trying to wiggle from his grasp but knew it was no use.
Enjoying? She looked at him and arched a brow again. “Are you kidding? I’m loving this. Don’t get me wrong, I did like working at SHIELD, much as I did complain about everything, but I never would have been able to come to Greece and enjoy it like this. And don’t get me started on how happy I am to be brushing up on the language… especially speaking it with natives. I feel a bit less touristy that way.” Liza explained laughing quietly as she brushed her fingers through her hair and looking out the window. Oh yeah, she was definitely enjoying this trip.
His question made her laugh again, one that had her snorting as she tried to stifle her giggles. “No! It’s the name of the town, the only Quakers there is the oatmeal.” Liza said, moving her sunglasses for a moment to wipe a tear from the corner of her eye, a product of her laughter. A small sigh left her lips and she nodded several times. “It’s really beautiful as far as I can see so far. Normally you get buildings moving into these places where everything is so old and they’re these big ugly skyscrapers, but this? It just… fits perfectly.” She said, looking over at him and blushing a bit at how she was gushing over a building.
Her incredulous tone drew another chuckle from him and he shrugged as if suggesting her to take the question as she willed. “Your Greek is exceptional. I’ll gladly help you keep your skills finely tuned though. I’m fluent in a large percentage of the languages on earth.” He smiled, relaxing into the car. “/So where would you want to go next for the trip, Venice or Berlin?/” He asked, fluent and flawless Greek still carrying that slight accent that was never quite from any one place.
Drakon couldn’t help the pleased grin from her laugh and he chuckled in response to her soft snort. “I unfortunately don’t think that counts.” He begrudged and sighed, as if disappointed she didn’t come from a town of Quakers. He smiled at the resort and chuckled. “Would you like to keep a secret?” He didn’t wait for a response, trusting her considering some of her references were mythical themselves. “The building is a mix of Classical and Hellinistic architecture that I wanted to keep as close to realistic as possible, it was what I remember from my time in Greece when this style was at its peak.”
