Percy Weasley obsessor and defender 19 She/they

Imagine Percy Weasley coming home from his second year of Hogwarts, teaching the twins “how to survive” their first year after having been bullied so hard. Just for them to become part of the popular kids that Charlie and Bill were apart of, and making fun of him for exaggerating how bad it was (they wouldn’t understand)

Imagine Percy Weasley during his first and second year wondering why his brothers didn’t warn him about all the bullying happening at Hogwarts, only to find out his brothers WERE the bullies (not actual bullies, but bystanders)

Percy Weasley, swearing in his second year that he would become head boy to stop all the bullying happening at Hogwarts. Swearing that his little brothers and sister would never feel different or distant from everyone else.

Percy Weasley jeopardizing his own reputation, becoming known as a prat and a rat for telling his teachers about underclassmen being bullied because he doesn’t want anyone to feel how he felt.

Ravenclaw isn’t at all the right house for Percy.

Percy worked hard for what he has, and is a very strict rule-follower, showing his loyalty to Dumbledore, Hogwarts and eventually the ministry. All very HUFFLEPUFF traits.

He also is VERY ambitious, the twins remark that he wants to be the minister of magic one day, and we see him rise through the tanks as Prefect and Head boy at Hogwarts, and at the Ministry eventually he becomes the assistant of the Minister of Magic. He cuts off and disowns his family to prove himself at the Ministry, showing his resourcefulness, cunning and determination. SLYTHERIN traits.

I don’t think Percy demonstrates any other Ravenclaw traits besides his intelligence and his values in academia and education. Even then, we don’t really see Percy valuing education besides him wanting to achieve a high rank in the Ministry. He doesn’t move on to secondary education (even if the wizarding world doesn’t really have that) and goes straight to work at the Ministry.

We also see his Gryffindor traits shine through with his moral code, which is where his obsession with rules comes from, and at the end of the series when he has the courage to return to his family and admit that he was wrong to side with the Ministry.

In the end, Percy doesn’t really show any Ravenclaw traits throughout the series, and even though he doesn’t show many Gryffindor ones either, I believe that the hat recognizes that to be in Gryffindor you have to ask to be there and have that confidence to ask, which is how he ended up there.

Headcannon:

The sorting hat struggled with Percy like it did with Harry, and he was placed in Gryffindor exactly because, like Harry, he begged it not to place him in Slytherin.

Late night headcannon bc lately I’ve been struggling with it myself and I like to make my favourite characters miserable:

Percy usually drinks black coffee for breakfast… not because he likes the taste. He also tends to skip meals to rEaD.

I just think that in a family of 9 with all athletic brothers (and Ginny, but growing up with brothers) he sort of is expected to leave more for them, or he wouldn’t need a reason to eat less and it would definitely fly under the radar. Maybe Molly is too pushy with food or maybe she tries to help him as best she can.

Also: I have a feeling that Ron would have a binge eating sort of problem, maybe just at Hogwarts but idk. In the movies he’s always portrayed as eating—especially in stressful situations and I think it fits his character well in comparison with Harry (who also definitely has an ed, either ana or mia)

I like to think Percy stresses about exams to the point where he breaks out in acne, which he then picks which then gets even worse.

Based of off Chris Rankin in PoA, in which he is the hottest he’s ever been (especially with the acne)

Percy has a stack of notebooks for studying. Oliver has a stack for quidditch notes/formations.

When either runs out they steal the others.

They buy each other notebooks for Christmas and birthdays.

Percy doesn’t swear. As a prefect and head-boy he wants to set a good example for students and his own siblings. Instead, he uses the funniest terms.

Ex: Cheese and crackers, biscuits, mother of pearl, goodness gracious, holy guacamole, drats… etc etc.

I think he’d also have the occasional swear ridden outburst if he got a grade he didn’t like.

Okay one more headcannon because yes I pulled an all-nighter and yes I am using it for inspo

Percy and Oliver share a dorm (obvi), and always lecture the other on how pulling all-nighters are unhealthy. Oliver does them to actually study and do schoolwork, Percy does them because of anxiety and insomnia and stress studying.

Sometimes they stay up all night studying together in silence. They never talk about that.

Okay, but there HAS to be an afterschool study group or SOMETHING for the gcse’s and A-levels at Hogwarts right?

Like as if some of these muggle-born students are studying SO hard for MUGGLE STUDIES?

Or what about the pure-blood or just already magical students who have been surrounded by magic all their lives? Like charms couldn’t be that hard for most of them right??

Like unless the smart ones were all Hermione Granger—taking 5 extra classes and going on adventures with famous Harry Potter to save the world, an extra couple hours to study maths and english and whatever couldn’t be that hard right? Especially if they could replace certain classes with Muggle classes- like Muggle Studies with normal History or Arithmancy with Math?

Idk I just feel like some of these kids would want to go to a muggle university after Hogwarts right? Or at the very least be capable of doing things without magic.

Penny’s parents valued education and made her take the GCSEs and A-levels so she could get into a muggle university when she graduated. Percy always romanticized going to a muggle university because all his favourite authors went to one, and they would study for them together.

They both went to the same one—Penny’s parents paying for her tuition and Percy working at the ministry to pay his.

When Percy left The Burrow he got a muggle flat near the university with Penny.

Percy didn’t care about the corruption in the ministry because he was too busy being in the muggle world. That’s it.
