“It is a tough spot.” he agreed. “But my friends … they’re human. I mean, they’re metas, but we didn’t know at the time - it’s, uh, it’s complicated.” Barry piff-paffed a hand. “But they still stood by me. And they still - helped. And I’ve had to deal with that before. Even from myself, Scarlet.” he admitted, shaking his head a little. “I have a normal life, too.” Less normal than most folk, but that wasn’t the point. “Got a day job, all that jazz. They get scared, anyway. But they help. That’s the point. And when you do something dumb, they - they stand by you, and they tell you you’re an idiot, but they help you make sure you don’t make a mistake again.”
He sighed. “You need - training. To learn to be a hero, it’s not easy. I had them, but I made a lot of dumb mistakes. You don’t have to be alone.” he insisted. “Even if you don’t want my team… maybe I can help train you.”
Scarlet nodded. She was sure eventually Azure would get used to the idea of her being Miss Botany, especially once she realizes how determined Scarlet is and that she’d not going quit. For right now, though, Azure doesn’t want to be a part of it any more than she has to be. Scarlet understood, but that didn’t stop her from being disappointed. “She’ll come around eventually, I’m sure.”
She looked away for a moment. She was tempted to say no. She’d never relied on more than her mom, her aunt, and Azure. Maybe it was time to change that, however. She looked back at him and smiled softly. “I definitely need some training... and if you’re offering, who better to learn from? I’ve never really used my powers like this... or much at all before and I’ve had them since the explosion.”
