Hello, I am Edgar Redmond Prefect of the Scarlet Fox Dorm at Weston and nephew of the Viscount of Druitt, Aleister Chambers.

Now that was a question he hadn’t prepared for. How strange..they seemed to be on the same page. Taking this as an opportunity, his smirk widened across his lips, the elder now reaching down for the other’s hand. “Yes….even mine.”

Edgar swallowed, deciding to screw all of his resolve when Aleister answered that he had caught even the older man's eye. He moved his head up, kissing the other.

Aleister took a moment to think, simply smirking. Oh his thoughts were wrong, mad even.  Then again, when had Aleister ever been one to be sane? The boy was beautiful, he’d give him that much. Just like one of his robins. ”You…You’re more like a swan.” He reached forward, moving the hair from his face. “Graceful, lovely. You’d catch anyone’s eye.”

Edgar bit his lip, his heart racing at his uncle's words. "Even... your eye?" He was cautious as he asked, not sure how the older man would even react. He did not know how Aleister would react, but he was tempted to know....

Edgar Character Analysis Re-done

I think the root of his trust problem stems from his family, as well as all around attitude. It is obvious that Edgar and his parents are not close, they did not come to the cricket tournament for one. It seems his parents do not even love one another, if his behaviour towards Bluer’s sister when asked to dance was any indication. I think he picked that up from watching his parents interact. He is not one to flirt with women much, so I think he is sick of seeing his father doing such in his mother’s presence.

His father being a Marquis, highest ranking noble who it would make sense to see marry the daughter of a Viscount, and being an only child, Edgar has a lot of pressure on his shoulders as his father’ s eventual successor. He is being groomed to be a marquis and is most likely being forced to attend balls he does not wish to go and talk to women he may not even like. (Heck, he may be bisexual or even homosexual but in denial) He obviously dislikes dancing, evident at the Ball. However, he seems to be okay with dancing on occasion, like the party after the Tournament.

Edgar is closest to his uncle out of his entire family. Aleister alone came to watch Edgar in the tournament. No other member of his family was seen. He also trusted his uncle enough to go to him for help after Derrick’s death. He told Aleister everything, made evident by his directing Edgar to Ryan and Undertaker, which means that Edgar trusted him to keep quiet. For someone like Edgar who is not close to family, this is very telling.

Edgar, despite how many times he has been hurt, cares deeply for the students of his dorm as well as the other Prefects. He came up with the plan to cover Derrick’s death showing obvious care for Greenhill by doing that and trying to stop Zombie!Derrick from hurting him worse. The four may have been friends growing up, they were close when it was announced that they were Prefects and stuck together through everything. The sketch of young Bluer with young Edgar confirms that at least they knew each other at a young age.

He shows concern for his dorm mates during the cricket tournament, when they start falling down his face is scared, he is afraid something is very wrong and has no clue what is going on. He ignored his own pain by trying to go and help Harcourt. He wanted to ignore his dignity and had to be held back to stop him from running to his side. When Soma’s elephant ran into the dorms he was not upset over the damage to the building, but because someone could have been hurt. Seeing what Derrick had done, he was disgusted. He would do anything to protect the boys who were being bullied. When he heard of the bullying he was visibly upset.

The expulsion from Weston really shook Edgar, not because he had been expelled, but because he had failed to protect his friends. They had trusted him to cover up the crime, to protect them, but the truth was still revealed. He is just grateful that none of them were hung because of what happened. That had been his greatest fear after Derrick was killed, that he would be forced to see his friends hang. All in all, Edgar is a kind hearted young man who has been trampled on and used.

That is my analysis of Edgar Redmond. Hope I did well.

"Of course not, don’t be ridiculous." The Viscount mused, giving his nephew a little chuckle. "That’s preposterous. I’m like a sparrow, Edgar. I hop from one fling to the next, never being tied down to one person in particular. It’s like being offered a variety of fine wines. Why choose only one when you can sample them all?"

"If you’re straying from the woman, then it’s obvious that you don’t love her, darling." The elder voiced nonchalantly.  "You’ll find yourself a wife some day. But until then, enjoy the freedom you have. Being tied down to some woman  is a fate worse than death in my eyes."
