"Shiva has been my GF, my Guardian Force since I was 18. We junctioned, her in my mind, and it just felt right. She was elemental ice and I was pretty icy back then."
It was not as though he did not have his reasons to push everyone away...
A shrug and Leon looked over his shoulder outside at the Malamute laying under the tree.
"But since being on Radiant Garden she has existed outside of me, taking a form that others feel safe around."
He looked back to Souji.
Leon added to make sure Souji understood that Shiva, although more then just an ordinary dog, still liked him.
"She enjoys her time with you."
Guardian Force... an ice spirit that bonded mentally and just... stayed together. Souji absently wondered what it would be like to have someone or something that was connected so deeply to him. The romantic in him, he supposed.
But being here, she decided to exist... outside of him? "So... she lived in your mind before?" Did that sound right?? He didn't understand it, but he was trying. Like so many things lately, he was trying.
"Ah... I love her so much. I... have always been more at home with animals than with people," he admitted softly. When I'm with Shiva, I feel like I don't have to watch my back or keep up an appearance. I just have to exist..."
"She did," Leon nodded, "Being in the mind she...well, all Guardian Forces fed while in the mind."
He tapped the side of his head, "Memories. I don't have a-lot of them of my home world before I was 18."
But then he honestly did not mind all that much, those years of the orphanage and the Garden were just filled with repressed loneliness.
Leon smiled at Souji's admission.
"She never judged me and she had more to judge there," he said quietly. "So I doubt she judges you at all."
Rather Shiva was protective of Souji. She knew about the light and what it meant to the many worlds out there.
Hearing that Souji used food to make sure his friends knew they were paid for he hums. That was an interesting perceptive on food and cooking in general. The way they put it was a bit awkward but the gesture was sincere enough.
"Well, with this I know I have a new friend," Leon replied, sipping his tea. He gave Souji one of his small smiles.
"Shiva also appreciates all the affection."
Thinking on it Leon put down his tea.
"Have you heard of or seen a summon before? Something or someone that you can call to your side during battle?"
He knew that the way he said things were.... interesting for those who didn't see love the same way he did, but Leon took it in stride, giving a smile, and Souji smiled back in relief.
But then the conversation went to Shiva, and the concept of summons. "I have heard of it in passing since leaving my world, but I've never seen one before. It's not something that's very common for me at all. If I hadn't heard of it before, I think I would've been more confused about Shiva than I was..."

Leon sipped at his tea.
"Just don't let Aerith know I said anything," he did not want to hurt her in anyway. She had always been supportive and a good friend to Leon.
He finishes the second dango, "Do you enjoy cooking?" he asked as he did not really enjoy it. It was another thing he had to do in a busy day, which meant he did not eat very elaborately. Especially now that he lived alone.
Souji winked, taking a finger to his lips. "My lips are sealed~~" he promised before taking a dango, himself. The last thing he wanted to do was embarrass her like that.
"I love cooking... I will admit I would put more effort into it when it was for other people, but when you put yourself into your cooking, it has a special flavor... like people can taste the love you carry for them. I always wanted my friends to know that they were cared for, and my cooking... was a way of doing that..." He flushed a little, realizing how it sounded, but he didn't backtrack. "It's probably... a strange way of putting it, but it's never steered me wrong before."
Hearing that Souji used food to make sure his friends knew they were paid for he hums. That was an interesting perceptive on food and cooking in general. The way they put it was a bit awkward but the gesture was sincere enough.

Rounds
The days were blurring...or was it nights? The fact that Traverse Town had no sun, had no daytime wrecked havoc with more then just Leon's head. He was exhausted in a manner that he had not been since the Sorceress War. Go, go, go. He did not stop except to eat and and try to sleep.
The heartless kept him and the others from Hollow Bastion busy. Kept him busy enough that most times his head hit the pillow and he was out. Better then the insomnia and the nightmares that often happened to him when he meant to sleep.
But he could not deal with that the way he had when Archipelago fell and he had arrived on Radiant Garden. Leon these days avoided alcohol now after using it so frequently to fall asleep after his home world fell.
He was doing rounds as he and Yuffie did, alone or together, to make sure people could get to where they needed to go safely. Traverse Town outside of the first district was perilous. Walking out of the hotel and down the sidewalk there, Leon heard the telltale sound before he could see the heartless that had appeared.
Lashing out with it's claws a shadow tried to get the first attack on Leon who summoned his Gunblade and parried those claws that had been too close for his liking. Jumping back he looked to both sides seeing Shadows and Soldiers on either side. Frowning, he rolled his shoulders and headed into the fray.

Leon grunts a laugh at exchanging dishes.
"Cloud says my cooking is alright, but he is comparing that to Aerith who has always had troubles making food that's edible."
A little smile. He would not admit he missed the blonde warrior. Cloud had disappeared with Sephiroth that day and had not returned...
Leon wasn't sure his cooking or dishes were anything special to be exchanged but he wasn't against the idea entirely. He picks up another dango, biting into it. If it got Leon more cooking like this, he was willing to try.
"I'll have to bake you something, sweet, to say thank you for this."
He did not mind baking. Follow the instructions to the T and everything turned out alright.
Every time Leon reached for the dango, Souji felt himself lighten up just a little more. There was a special joy in watching someone enjoy something you made, and he was reveling in it for now. He didn't know who this "Cloud" person was, but to hear that the cute flower girl wasn't a good cook took him aback, and he giggled. Poor thing.
He would bake Souji something sweet in thanks... Souji's eyes sparkled and he smiled widely. "I'm looking forward to it."
Leon smiles seeing how much sugar Souji adds to his tea. It added up that the other was a sweet tooth.
He admits, "I barely knew how to cook until we ended up in Traverse Town. The ah...institution I grew up in had a cafeteria as it was also a school. So no need to cook."
The Gunblader takes another bite of the dango, finishing off one.
"But I learned to cook from Cid, Yuffie and Aerith. Lots of experiments that ended up being barely edible."
Little levity among the difficulty that was living in Traverse Town.
Institution?? He blinked, but he nodded in understanding. "Heh, cooking is always like that at first..." he assured. "I had learned a bit of the basics before I went off on my own. I... moved out of the house to be closer to the high school I wanted to go to, so I had a little apartment where I stayed. I got used to cooking for myself, and then for my friends who could come over..."
He smiled a little. "Maybe one day we'll just have to swap dishes..." he offered lightly.
Leon grunts a laugh at exchanging dishes.

"I'll have to bake you something, sweet, to say thank you for this."
He did not mind baking. Follow the instructions to the T and everything turned out alright.
Leon shook his head to the too much trouble comment. Grabbing the box of chamomile tea from a cupboard. He had it as a way to relax himself in the evening in efforts to sleep better. Although the nightmares still remained.
He put the kettle on the stove and readied the cups on the counter before sitting down across from Souji. He took up a piece of dango and would bite into it. It was pleasant in a way he had not tasted before.
Swallowing before he speaks, Leon gives a small smile, "There ah nice, not too sweet at all."
The kettle whistles and he is up and pouring the hot water. Setting the two cups on the table with a little bowl of sugar, just encase.
"Thank you again, for the thought."
For wanting to cook something for him.
Souji had a slight tremor in his fingers as he watched Leon take the confection into his mouth. He was so quiet, almost thinking about it as he ate, so when he smiled, the tension left Souji's shoulders. "Y-yeah I figured you wouldn't like things that were too sweet, and with dango it's something you can make sweeter with a sauce, but not really necessary..." he said softly. What a relief....
He took his cup of tea and started adding sugar. Souji had a notorious sweet tooth, but surely that was obvious. "O-of course!! It's... nice to do things for people," he said shyly, looking down at his tea. O
Leon smiles seeing how much sugar Souji adds to his tea. It added up that the other was a sweet tooth.
He admits, "I barely knew how to cook until we ended up in Traverse Town. The ah...institution I grew up in had a cafeteria as it was also a school. So no need to cook."

Leon shook his head at the apology. If he had minded he would not have invited the other inside.
The Gunblade user watched Souji, appreciative that the other took his shoes off.
Oh? Leon blinked at the unexpected box and Souji kneeling to open it. Intrigued but mildly confused by what was inside, he listened to Souji's explanation and he smiled.
"Thank you," he answered, surprise filling his voice. Clearly he was not someone used to being given gifts. If anything he did not know how to react or respond beyond the simple thank you.
It took him a moment before he gestured toward the kitchen and said, "Bring them into the kitchen. We can try them together."
The kitchen was smaller even then the living room. But it fit the essentials as well as a small table for two. Not normally someone to entertain, Leon asked after, a bit awkwardly, "Would you like something to drink? I do have some chamomile tea somewhere."
He was quite pleased that the other seemed shocked and pleasantly surprised at the gift. He nodded at the offer, nearly jumping to his feet and taking the dango box in his hand to place it on the table and settling down. "Tea sounds wonderful... if you're sure it's not too much trouble..." He really was excited to have Leon try his cooking.

For wanting to cook something for him.
The music was stopped as Leon heard the knock at the door.
It was a moment before the brunette opened to Souji. He was wearing black pants but not so many belts, and a white t-shirt without socks.
"I wasn't expecting company," he admits though he does not say no.
"Come in," and steps back so Souji can step into his home.
In truth he had been cleaning, dusting, at that particular moment. His home was neat and tidy, a lay over from being in the military-like Balamb Garden. Even as a teenager he had kept things tidy in his room. But here he was often not home, dealing with stresses and needs of the city. So he put aside a little time each week to make sure his home did not fall to the wayside.
Small as the house may have been, it had a little living room with a couch and record player on a stand with a small collection of records. A few photos framed here-and-there of the Restoration Committee and Sora on the same bookshelf.
The music stopped, and he tensed up. Had he...it was probably a bad time...
But the other opened the door, offering entrance, and he nodded, coming in with a soft "sorry for the intrusion. 'Ah, let me..." he took off his shoes and placed them nearby the door so he could walk forward with his socks to not mess up the floor. "I didn't mean to intrude on your private time."
The house was immaculate, and violet eyes scanned the small space, the records and the pictures. It was lovely... comforting in a way. "I... have something for you, actually," he said, holding up the box.
He knelt down at the floor, undoing the cloth and opening a brown wooden box to reveal several multicolored balls. "Mr. Scrooge had some rice flour in his shop and let me have a bag... and I thought maybe I could make some dango to share... I figured you wouldn't like anything too sweet, but I wanted to make something... I thought you would like..." He fought the heat on his cheeks but to little avail, not wanting to look directly at the man but instead finding an uninteresting corner to focus his gaze.
Leon shook his head at the apology. If he had minded he would not have invited the other inside.
The Gunblade user watched Souji, appreciative that the other took his shoes off.

Shiva gave a smile, open mouthed and tongue hanging. Leon would like it, whatever it was. She was sure of that.
Leaning in as she is hugged to deliver a doggy's kiss to Souji's cheek. Shiva was not above playing to the animal that was the form she had chosen. Especially around children and those young at heart.
Music could be heard playing from inside Leon's home, the songs he was humming along too. Having electricity throughout Radiant Garden was a luxury after the reconstruction.
He gave a delighted giggle at the doggy kiss, cheeks pink and eyes sparkling. "Okay... I think I'm brave enough now..." he said softly. He got up and pressed a few more kisses to the dog before picking up the package.
The music and the humming were louder now that he was at the door, by the window, and he stood there, smiling softly. One breath, two breaths... and he knocked on the door. "Leon?? Are you up for company??"
The music was stopped as Leon heard the knock at the door.

Shiva perked when the malamute saw Souji approaching. Tentative tail wagging started when Souji settled with her under the tree. She could not help herself but sniff at the wrapped package, curious. Was this something for Leon?
That nose then bumped Souji's cheek.
Soft humming could be heard from within Leon's house from the open windows. Radiant Garden was going through its summer season and the temperature was rising, hence the open windows.
He giggled as Shiva sniffed the wrapped box and absently petted her. "Curious?? It's a gift for Leon... I made him something. I hope he likes it." He looked over at the house, hearing the soft humming, and he giggled.
"If I'm wrong and he actually likes super sweet things, I'm going to feel really silly," he admitted. But that would be for later... when he didn't feel so nervous about it. For now, he would just settle down next to Shiva, hugging her gently. "Next time I'll have something for you too..."
Shiva gave a smile, open mouthed and tongue hanging. Leon would like it, whatever it was. She was sure of that.

@scarredhope
He had planned on seeing Leon. With a wrapped package, he had made something to share with the other, but when he got near the house, he got distracted. Shiva was under the tree like he was true.
There was no way he could resist spending time with the beautiful Malamute when he found her, and so he simply parked himself under the tree as well, so happy and content to be right there with the dog and enjoying the day.
Leon listened recalling similarities between his world and Souji's. But that ended with what Leon took as description for cities.
Shiva nosed Souji gently when he started to sound sad.
"Missing the places is easy, missing the people is hard," Leon said thinking of all of those he had lost and how jealous he had been of the rest of the Restoration Committee and how they had found each other again.
But even then, they had still lost people they had not gotten back.
"Hopefully with sometime this place will become a second home, even if its not the same," he reaches out, scratching Shiva's side.
Shiva nosed Souji, and he smiled, hugging the dog tighter. The warmth did more for him than he could truly express. He needed this... the soft warmth and the weight of another near and on him. Creature comfort.
Missing the people is hard. Souji gave a soft scoff, smiling ruefully. "You'd think i'd be used to that by now..." he whispered. Loss wasn't anything new to Souji, but on this sort of scale, it was a lot to take in.
He looked up at Leon, watching him scratch the dog's side, and his smile turned gentle. "It helps to have people to trust, I guess... It's a good thing I met you, then," he said softly, and then turned back toward Shiva, nuzzling her. "And youuuu~~" he giggled, breathing her in. Souji was reluctant. He could find himself a home here, in Radiant Garden...
Leon shrugs, "Loss doesn't get easier," he voiced with experience. But he left it at that for now not wanting to pull Souji deeper into a pensive mood.
A small smile as Souji basked in Shiva's presence. Shiva nosed his shoulder, not minding the hug.
Speaking directly into Leon's mind, ~He is filled with light, like Kairi.~
Leon blinked at that, as Shiva did not often choose to speak to him directly. Only when she thought he needed to know something important. The information she gave was also a surprise, something he would put away for now, to be stewed on later.
"Well whenever I am in town, Shiva's usually here or in the nearby shade."
Gesturing to a nearby tree weighed down by its branches and leaves.
"She's only away with me if I'm training in the canyon so if you need her, she'll be around."
Leon smiled a soft smile for a moment when Souji said she was perfect and rested against the malamute.
Then hiding that smile he hummed.
"What was home like?" Leon asked and he would settle on the step leaning on a knee.
He knew it wasn't easy sometimes to speak to what they had lost, but it was better to try. Leon had learned that over the years, maturing both in Traverse Town and Radiant Garden. The people around him having a large part to play in that.
"Hmm?" The question caught him off guard. Leon.. truly wanted to know?? "Well, it's nothing like this place..." he smiled softly. "Big tall buildings everywhere, cars packing the streets... Noisy and busy. At least most of it..." he said softly.
"But then there were spots where things were... so silent... peaceful. The mountains and the trees, the older buildings from long ago... the quiet spots where it was just the temples and the soft embrace of nature... it was a wonderful mixture of old and modern... You could lose yourself in the bustle of modern things, or relish the past... and love the things that came before. You were never too far away from any of it..."
His face fell at the thought of friends. Family. "Thinking of it all being gone... It's a lot to take in... then again, I don't really know, do I?? It could still be out there... and I just can't go back."
Leon listened recalling similarities between his world and Souji's. But that ended with what Leon took as description for cities.
Shiva nosed Souji gently when he started to sound sad.

But even then, they had still lost people they had not gotten back.
"Hopefully with sometime this place will become a second home, even if its not the same," he reaches out, scratching Shiva's side.
Shiva tilted back her head at the scratches, especially under the chin which was always a little itchy.
Leon chuckled softly, "When I'm in the city she usually doesn't follow me around. When I'm in the canyon or somewhere a bit more hostile, then she'll be by my side."
Shiva nodded to that.
"Her name is Shiva, on my world she was a summon of sorts, made of Ice. She only takes that form now if we have to fight."
He was grateful that she did not eat his memories as much these days. Having a physical form like this allowed the GF to draw on the magics of this world instead of his memories.
Arms crossed Leon watched the dog be loved on with quiet amusement.
"Shiva?? It's a beautiful name..." In Souji's head, he simply imagined a dog made of ice, and he giggled. "A summon... I heard about those. I've got no real experience of my own with them... in fact, a lot of this all is so new to me," he admitted shyly.
Still, he was happy to know that Shiva, who seemed as averse to people as Leon, took to him so well. He considered that a good sign. "She's perfect," he sighed, resting his head on the soft fur.
Shiva licked Souji's cheek. Nosing Souji's shoulder the female gives up a yawning sigh. Showing off their beautiful, pearly whites.
It was not long before the door opened up to a rather surprised looking Leon. Shiva wasn't one to socialize much. Which Leon had always wondered if the reason for that was him or the Guardian Force themself.
Leon stepped out, not in his normal leather jacket. Just a white t-shirt and black pants with all those belts.
"You two seem to be enjoying yourselves."
Shiva looked back and gave a 'roof!' before settling back with Souji. Content to be where they were. Leon's brow rose that much higher.
He looked up at Leon and flushed a little. "Hey!!! I was on the way to the market and well... Made a friend along the way~"
Absently scratching under the dog's chin, he leaned back down, whispering soft coos to her and giggling. "You didn't tell me you had such a cute dog, Leon, I feel cheated!!"
Shiva tilted back her head at the scratches, especially under the chin which was always a little itchy.
Leon chuckled softly, "When I'm in the city she usually doesn't follow me around. When I'm in the canyon or somewhere a bit more hostile, then she'll be by my side."
