Picture Gannen Harst just somehow running into the boys Pre-Tunnels of Blood, back before they even knew what a Vampaneze was.

(Maybe they went for a walk while in a particularly hard-to-navigate area, and got lost/separated from the Cirque without Larten knowing, only to find a random, disgruntled vampire-ish purpleman, who honestly really intrigues them.)

(Gannen, being the lovably-honorable “I only kill if it is during feeding or in battle” bastard that he is, doesn’t hurt the cubs, he just deals with the fact that there are now three, very annoying pipsqueaks existing in his presence.)

 (They bombard him with questions, he soon realizes that they have no idea where they are, who he is, or what he is, and that they have probably been lost for several hours judging by how filthy and scratched-up they are.)

(He would probably, reluctantly, help them find their way back to the cirque, without getting too close to the cirque himself, of course, sense he doesn’t want to deal with meeting their mentor right now.)

(He also explains in some detail what a Vampaneze is, and tells the boys not to just waltz up to them in the future.)

(Larten has a fit when he finds out about everything later.)

Both the twilight and cique du freak series follow the same idea of "ha! You thought you knew how vampires were!" yet they couldn’t be more different because twilight makes vampires sexy but cdf does the complete opposite
