Back because I’m still under the influence of the Byler worm.

An old wip that was supposed to be part of a lil comic I wanted to make (idk how to make comics tho!)

The concept was Karen finding a recent photo of Mike and Will after not seeing/ hearing from him in like 4 years (Ted caught him kissing Will the summer after graduation and disowned him). Karen lwk took Ted’s side….. big oof, girl.

She regrets it, though. Especially since it worked a little too well and now she has no clue where Mike is, even. The only reason she even knows he’s alive is because she’ll hear Holly on the phone with him occasionally.

Once she had redialed the number as soon as Holly had hung up- just to hear his voice. Will had picked up. Mike didn’t call back for two weeks and Holly gave her the silent treatment for a month.

Her relationship with Holly and Nancy is strained now, too. They’re both in contact with Mike, but don’t tell her anything about his life (he definitely threatened them lmao). Nancy doesn’t come home for the holidays anymore, and Holly keeps to herself.

Mike, Nancy, and Max all exchange letters with Holly, usually including photos. She keeps all of them, in a shoebox underneath her bed. Once Karen opens a letter from Mike and Holly finds her drunk and crying at the kitchen table after school. She’s a lot quicker about getting to the mail, now.

Karen wrote the address down, sending letters occasionally. She doesn’t even know if Mike still lived at that address- it had been two years since that incident, and she hasn’t seen another piece of mail from her son to indicate if he had moved or not.

One day Karen’s collecting laundry and goes into Holly’s room- it’s her senior year at this point. She sees a sock peaking out from underneath Holly’s bed. She grabs it and sees the shoebox.

Queue Karen seeing recent photos of her son who she hasn’t actually seen or talked to in years and having a breakdown, divorcing Ted, and then flying to Philadelphia to try and make amends with Mike.

Bonus full alt Byler with makeup. Mike’s was based off of Gamzee LMAO. I lwk think it would be funny if Karen saw a photo of them in full makeup, clearly just have been making out and is just like “oh!” Like bffrrn Will’s been around since ur son was like 5 he’s not going anywhere 🙏

Things that feel important to note for this au:

- Nancy lives with Robin. Jonathan lives with Steve. (In NYC)

- Bottom photo of them is from when they first moved to NYC and is mainly to directly parallel Will and Mike. Byler is generational. They have since broken up and are not currently together, but are still very close.

- The party + older kids spend a lot of weekends together due to the close proximities of the cities. One weekend in NYC stobin convinces the party to go party hopping.

- Afterwards, the party starts going out in Philly way more. House parties, underground concerts, the gay bar down the street where they don’t card. Max, El, and Mike would go way over board, though- staying out too late on weekdays and getting too fucked up. Max and Mike are looking for ways to escape + unhealthy coping mechanisms. El is just in awe of the city and enjoying freedom and being young. Plus she doesn’t take classes and deserves to be a lil crazy.

- I’m going into too much detail.

- Mike tries to grow facial hair. It’s a struggle but he’s not giving up! (He should, it looks really bad and everyone makes fun of him. Will thinks it looks cute (boy nah ts so patchy) but knows he just needs to say two words and Mike will shave it.)

- Holly thinks they’re cool as fuck and draws colored sharpie streaks in her hair at school.

The party at house parties vibes:

Started drawing the party as these pics but I’m camping for a cave SAR training and wasn’t expecting the campsite to have service so I didn’t bring my iPad! And I wanted to post this because even though it’s not technically finished the main drawing HAS been finished for like six weeks but I’ve been greedily sitting on it.

Also been thinking a lot about ballet dancers and the concept of Karen putting Mike in classes when he was younger because she’d have to take him to Nancy’s classes. He’d mimic them in the hallway (real adhd kid needing stimulation) and an instructor begged her to out him in classes.

The concept of Mike being Will’s muse (always) and doing personal figure references for him. His college classmates are JEALOUSSSS. He’s alr goated at figure drawings by the time he gets to college bc he practices drawing Mike so much. First time one of his classmates sees Mike (probably waiting outside Will’s class) she’s like holy shit wait he’s real? And Will’s nonchalant ass prob just says some shi like “ya he’s my roommate lol”

The concept of Mike continuing to grow his hair out because he likes the way it looks when he dances!!!

The concept that he’s strong enough to pick up Will but only after Will learns how to carry his weight properly (dead weight Will is another beast. Mike could never)

Based off of the fic White Room by Azarinka21 on ao3. Mike get kidnapped at the end of season three by the Russians, and is injected with something that gives him powers. He has pyrokinesis. He’s tortured and trained into a weapon. It’s very good and angsty and an amazing fic and I cannot stop thinking about Mike with fire powers. I like to think he’d have weapons like a sword/ throwing knives that he dips in oil to light up. I also like to think he wears his hair in a braid when it gets long enough because look at how cunty that is. @azarinka21 I love your au so much, your brain is so big.

Atla was my SHOW growing up and I still rewatch it all the time. Peak comfort show. And now watching it I cannot help but picture Mike fighting during some of the firebending scenes ts is SO cool. I need more bamf Mike in my life.

Vampire Mike au! Need I say more?

Ok, I will say more. Currently pondering a fanfic to write about Mike getting bit the winter before graduating. Vecna is defeated and everything is back to normal… until one night Mike is biking home and is attacked. He’s missing (passed on in the woods from blood loss) for 24 hours, and when gets back he’s sick for a full week. Afterwards he starts to push people away in fear of hurting them. The vampire who turns him is obsessed. There’s stalking. There’s a lot of angst. Mike is scared. Will is scared. Nancy is scared. They’re all scared. Holly is really scared. I’ve been thinking about this a lot this last week. I’ve been listening to a lot of Type O Negative and HIM this week.

Aaaand some Paladin Mike. It’s kind of giving he comes from a wealthy family and is a bratty kid who’s also badass with a sword. I’ve been playing dnd since I was 14 and love their dnd personas. Bravebyers has also infected my waking thoughts this past week. However, I would like to point out the concerning lack of Wheelwise content. Cleric Will being confident and sure of himself and laying a FAT one on Mike is just hilarious to think about.

I hate the drawing on the left. I couldn’t get the nose right. I kept redoing it. It still doesn’t look like Mike…. I may re do it…

Fixed Will’s hair + some of my spicier first time headcanons for you. Yes this takes place during college, yes this takes place in my “the whole party lives in Philly together” AU. BOTTOM MIKE WHEELER SUPREMACY!:

- The first time they have sex it is PLANNED. They’re still living in a studio apartment with the whole party, so they kind of have to plan a time when they’re the only ones in the apartment. Max still comes home early…

- They’re keeping their relationship a secret at this point in time… it does not last a secret for any significant length of time.

- They both think that they’re gonna bottom, and thus are both prepared. Will wants Mike to top because in his head Mike has always been his protector so it just makes sense… this has also been his fantasy for quite some time. Mike wants to bottom because Will is lowkey muscle mommy + he yearns to be dominated + he’s curious for science + he just wants to see Will take what he wants.

- Mike tops. It’s great. They both enjoy themselves or whatever. Will probably cries. Mike would probably cry but he’s hitting it from the back and is honestly enjoying himself a lil too much. Will looks good from the back, he’s not complaining.

- They go to sleep after some aftercare. Maybe a shower together idk, probably not though.

- Will is passed tf out. Mike CANNOT sleep. He needs that dih inside of him NOW.

- Like I love the concept of Mike being insanely jealous that Will had Mike inside of him. Like, Mike wants- NEEDS to know what that feels like too??? Hello? Why’d Will look like he enjoyed it so much… he needs to know…. For….science….. he can’t stop thinking about it. He needs Will inside of him….

- He wakes Will up….. Will is confused but understands what Mike is up trying to say through his insistent ramblings.

- This is a life altering moment for both of them. Mike is instantly submissive to Will, and Will… is kind of obsessed with it. He realizes that Mike would literally do anything he asked. He likes this a lot… he’s also never contemplated topping Mike, but it just makes more sense the more he thinks about it. Like…. Look at this bratty lil twink he’s basically BEGGING to be dominated. (Mike is not above begging).

- Meanwhile Mike is being a pathetic lil submissive bottom… he definitely cries… he definitely begs…Will definitely spits in his mouth…. Will definitely throws him around the bed. Mike also likes this a lot, because wtf he’s literally getting tossed around like a sack of potatoes that’s so hot.

- The longer it goes on for, the more confident and aggressive Will is. I’m thinking like….. the passion. The heat. They’re tangled up in each other. Mike doesn’t know which way is up or down, just Will. Will is everywhere- all over him. Chest pressed up against back, fingers in mouth, pulling Mike’s hair, biting his neck… just Will, Will, Will. It wraps around Mike like a blanket until all he knows is what Will feels like. Tastes like. Sounds like. It’s all consuming. He’s never known what it felt like to be wanted in this way- so wholly and without reservations, even when knowing everything about him so intimately. Even after everything Will has seen. Even after everything he’s done.

- Like…. Will wants him SO bad and THIS is the point in time when it finally clicks and Mike becomes absolutely obsessed with Will (or aware of just of obsessed he is). Will is absolutely ravishing Mike and Mike doesn’t know how to act he’s eating it upppp. Don’t get me wrong, Mike knew how down bad Will was…. Or, he kind of knew. Well, he knew Will liked him… eventually… after he literally spelled it out for Mike. Mike’s kind of dense, okay? He’s just trying to wrap his head around the fact that Will- Will who he’s kind of idolized since they were kids…. Wants him in this way. LOVES him in this way. So internally he’s having this little bit of a struggle coming to terms with that while’s also being pounded into next Tuesday by an extremely hot and fit dude who just so happens to be Will Byers- and oh my god Will Byers is INSIDE OF HIM.

- Do you see where I’m going with this? The amount of self reflecting and internal rambling from Mike would be off the CHARTS. He would definitely cry. This would literally be his spiritual awakening like he’d get flashbacks of the church choir singing mid pump and be like “oh I GET it now.” I’m talking about Louis confession “I laid down with a man. He has his roots in me… and I can’t think anything anymore but his voice and his words.” Except Mike is so blissed out and loves it.

- Seriously, I’m talking “I don't need to sell my soul, he's already in me. I wanna be adored. YOU adore me” type revelation. I’m talking “be my druidess, be my EVERYTHING” type shit coming from Mike.

- Will is also having a bit of an internal struggle because he’s really loving seeing Mike cry and squirm and whimper…. Like that’s his best friend why is he so into this….. spoiler alert it’s because he lowkey feels vindicated.

- There’s a LOT of emotions that’s going around and they’re both really into it. It’s very intimate.

- Mike Wheeler is Will Byer’s dog. That man needs a collar. There is a reason why when I draw Will with his rat tail the yellow bead is always on top of the blue one. Goodbye.
