@scetaceans-blog
This is why groupies make me want to throw up.
So…
Is it the logical resulting sentiment you’re uncomfortable with? Because this is what I see otherwise.
Think REALLY HARD before reblogging this.
I really hope that Kalia’s calf is male because then at least they won’t be able to AI it when it’s only 8 years old.
Video posted to youtube today of Kalia’s calf.
Has a GREAT belly view at 1:00 (1 minute) through 1:06.
May be able to make out guesses on gender from this (Looked like a girl to me, though I’m no professional and would definitely love some other thoughts and opinions!)
"Anonymous has been looking with growing interest and you now have our attention. We recently learned that your dwindling attendance in US parks has spurned you to expansion abroad.
We will be there, fighting you on every battle front to stop this from happening. And once the time comes to empty the tanks we will be watching and making sure you do the job right.”
quick little beluga for @scullyslays

IBERIAN ORCAS, INCREASINGLY CORNERED
Orca whales have been described in the Gulf of Cadiz, southern Spain, in spring and in the Strait of Gibraltar in summer. With more than 11,200 sightings conducted in ten years, Spanish and Portuguese researchers have been able to identify in detail the presence of killer whales in the Gulf of Cadiz, the Strait of Gibraltar and the Alboran Sea. According to the models generated, these cetaceans are linked to the distribution of its main prey, the bluefin tuna, so its presence in Spanish, Portuguese and Moroccan waters is more limited than previously thought.
Knowledge of the distribution of killer whales in the study area is essential to establish conservation measures for this population.

Rare Footage Shows Sperm Whale Giving Birth With Help From Her Pod
by Stephen Messenger
While diving in the waters of the North Atlantic recently, veteran filmmaker Kurt Amsler had what he says was “the greatest experience” in his 45 years of underwater wildlife photography — capturing rare footage of a newborn sperm whale.
Amsler tells Caters News that he and his crew had been slowly tracking a pod of sperm whales near the Azores islands when they happened upon an unusual scene. Amsler discovered a small group of whales huddled together in an odd arrangement and amid a faint cloud of blood…

Thank you to the individual who performed the ceremony and the biologists for taking part.
Beluga Whales- Canaries of the Sea
If you don’t absolutely love Belugas you’re wrong
you all really need to read this.
Cetacean breeding at Vancouver Aquarium is back on.
Footage posted online today, shows Narnia and her male companion in their covered tanks at the VDNKh exhibition centre - what a dire situation for these whales. Records show the animals were flown in last December, since then they have been swimming aimlessly around with only vets and trainers for company. (x)
New footage of the russian orcas. Look at those beautiful teeth and fins. And those eyes stare right through to your soul. So sad and unbelievable it’s happening. This is not like the footages of the captures or newly captured orcas from the 80’s. This is real, this is right damn now. And it pisses me off. My thoughts are with you, Narnia - and your male friend. Does anyone know if they are from the same pod? Or they know each other, same dialect, that kind of stuff?
