One of my favorite facts about the history of Malvinas Islands is that a group of indigenous Charrua people led by a Gaucho (think badass, brown cowboys with leather whips instead of firearms) tried to take back the islands from the English in 1833... and succeeded.

They captured everyone they didn't kill and took down the British flags. Then, English reinforcements arrived and captured them.

But the funny thing is: when el Gaucho Rivero and the Charruas were taken to England to be prosecuted, the court determined they were innocent, since the crimes they'd committed happened outside of British jurisdiction. So they were set free and returned safely to their homeland.

Of course, the Islands are still occupied by the English and we lost the actual war in 1982, but it's always worth remembering just how long we've been trying to reclaim territory that was ours hundreds of years before the British claimed it.

This Aztec-inspired headdress was seen in the 1975 𝑲𝒐𝒍𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒆𝒓 episode 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒓, where Erik Estrada wore it as Pepe Torres. But the headdress was originally created for the 1947 film 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒆, where it was worn by Ramón Sánchez. Who created this unique piece? Find out at Bit.ly/Acces230

This dance costume, constructed over a flesh-colored leotard with a fitted strapless bodice decorated with white bugle bead stripes and a long flowing beaded skirt, was designed by Edith Head for Juliet Prowse as Lili in the 1960 Elvis film 𝑮.𝑰. 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔. The costume made a brief appearance more than a decade later in the 1971 film 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒎 𝑮𝒂𝒏𝒈, where it was worn by Connie Stevens as Anna Borg. Now owned by Larry McQueen of The Collection of Motion Picture Costume Design, it has been exhibited several times over the years, including at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s 𝑬𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅: 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒚𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅'𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒎𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒆𝒓 exhibition. This is not the only Elvis film to feature recycled costumes. 𝑻𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒍𝒆 𝑴𝒆, for example, famously reused a gown once worn by Audrey Hepburn.
