Perhaps his devoutness in the notion was proof of his insanity. He knew Nicole was a free spirit, someone who couldn't be tied down -- at least not by someone like himself. But like everything else, he still found a way to trick himself. "I... can't really see it... Just ze colors..." Gustaf paused, swallowing hard. He wished he could see it. "But ze splotches are... pretty."

{/That was to say the least, highly unexpected. And it caught her off guard completely. But still, he requested that she not lie, or sugarcoat it. So she won’t.} “—No. I love ya as my bes’ friend. Always have.”

He had half been expecting that answer, but a hundred percent of him hoped that wouldn't be the answer. Still, he pushed the sorrow from his face and nodded. He wanted to ask her why. He was loyal, kind, a hero. He was clearing out those unfit to ive so they could have a better life. Was it because he wasn't born a natural ariyan? His hand went up to touch his hair, and he scratched idly. "In Ordnung. Danke."

"Huh…? Sure. I go’ time ta talk." {/With him leaning on her as he was, she was happy that she cut her hair down a bit. The last thing she wanted was for him to talk and get a mouth full of it.}

The Nazi parted from the small splotch of light in his life, rubbing the fabric of his worn out uniform nervously. "I've been zinking about me. Oond you. Oond I need you to tell me something. Don't sugar coat it or lie. Do you love me? Like... marriage love."

{/So he could talk! And it wasn’t complete gibberish, but another language! She’d never met someone of a different dialect before. And those people in the books, were always nicer than those of the same tongue as she.

A tiny smile, and curious eyes were what became of her as she nodded when he spoke. Her structures could always wait for another time. Right now, she had something far more interesting to learn about, and to listen to. She didn’t understand, but it was interesting to hear too. Although he did seem to understand her, so that helped a ton. Reaching over to tap his shoulder again, to keep his attention, she spoke up, just a little more than before.}

"More! I wanna hear more of wha’ yer sayin’! Wha’….wha’ are ya sayin’?"

The voices were dying down now -- like something about her presence calmed him like nothing had been able to. The roar turned to a low mumble as it had before, and he pushed his blocks out of the military formation. "Vhat zo you vant me to say?" His grasp on English was very small, and his accent was as thick as someone who had just left the immigrant boat. But still, he did his best to communicate, and some of the doctors supervising stared in wonder and shock that the only thing that had caused him to speak was some strange girl.

{/This was pretty awkward. Not so much the action, because Blitz did the same thing. Especially while she was napping. But it was awkward for her because she was sweaty and that’s just gross to her. And Gustaf’s words, fell on near deaf ears. Frankly he was right, women were still going for all the rights men had, but that wasn’t important to her right now. What was important, was making sure she didn’t pass out from a heat stroke. And this small, confined room…was not ideal for heat.

Looking around, she had to find something, there had to have been a vent..aha! There in the corner. Patting Gustaf’s shoulder gently, she pulled away from him to start stacking a few boxes on top of each other. Simply so she could reach it.}

"Hey, ya don’ gotta go tha’. I’s so stuffy, cause tha ven’ is shu’. —Here, help me open i’!"

Even though it was incredibly hot, he had not stripped himself of his uniform. Hitler had given him strict orders to keep it on -- after all, if a soldier couldn't endure heat, what could he do? Standing up, Gustaf brushed his military pants off before following her. "Don't stand on zose. You might hurt yourself." With those words, he swooped her up in one arm, setting her upon his shoulder, keeping a hold of her legs while pushing open the vent with his free hand. "I closed it cus' it used to vhisper to me at night..." He knelt down, placing Nicole on her feet. Her image was a good contrast on the blurry whiteness. Since he had started dating Nicole (or so he believed, in his mind), he had stopped hurting others in his room and in general. So everything was white -- and it scared him. His flag was hung upon the wall, worn and tattered like his own being. "I love you so very much, Nicole."

"Mister Herrmann, you have a visitor." The intercom nearly scared the Nazi right out of his skin. He rarely got visitors that needed to be met outside of his room. Meaning he never got visitors that weren't Nicole. Pulling himself up and adjusting his armband, the Nazi stood up straighter, trying not to look tired as he strode like the soldier he was towards the rec room. "Guten Tag. Vhat is your business here?"

Gustaf wrapped his arms around Nicole's waist, thinking quietly to himself. He could possibly request special service from Tyler, since the doctor seemed to fancy him as a toy only to give him perks afterwords. But that would mean he'd have to endure Tyler. Gustaf was long gone -- nearly no eyesight, a man who has lost his mind. Nicole was at her prime, and Gustaf realized that. "I veally hope vomen get rights soon, if only for you." He slipped a hand up the back of her shirt, raking his nails gently across her back. "I-I'll... ask Tyler if he can move the swamp cooler into here."

"I’ does. Bu’ i’s far too ho’ ta cuddle. I’s like…a sauna in here. I feel like I’ma explode righ’ now."

"Too hot? You can just be like me and --"

{/Was he ignoring her? Was he mute? She couldn’t tell, because he didn’t speak. He just stared…then went back to his book. Well, that was okay. She could go back to her structures.

In a book she read, she saw an Egyptian Obelisk. That was the structure she was making. Nicole had her own little hand drawn hieroglyphics that she taped to the side of the blocks. Then she stacked them. She made the Obelisk, she made an old temple from the country of Ur…so many things she could make, so many options and places to think of. The fantastic adventures she read of, the places the people went to. Heroes. They did all these amazing things, and saved everyone.

Maybe one day, she could do that too—
