Can you tell me a story about Laura and her Mom?

alright. well, first off, put on “laura” by PHOX. pull up the lyrics, too, if you can. good? good. here we go:

so laura’s mom used to do these really pretty french braids for laura all the time. laura loved them because they were just so so nice and she felt really special with them.

when her mom was getting more sick it was harder for her to do them, so papa hollis used to step in and try (he failed miserably and her mom had to always fix them a bit, but god bless him for trying).

let’s go back to the song: Oh girl, what are you doing there? / You’re cutting off all your hair?

so because laura is too good for this world she decides she’s going to cut off the long hair she loves and donate it for cancer. she sits in the hairdresser’s chair and stares at her long locks falling to the ground, but she’s kind of smiling because she really feels like she’s finally doing something.

her mom passes away about a month later. laura was 10 at the time, so she knew that the hair thing wasn’t some magical cure or could actually stop what was happening to her mom. but she was also still a kid, and believed in miracles and hope and magic. 

so when she’s at the funeral she stares at herself in the mirror and just hates her new hair, prompting: ”i couldn’t even be pretty for her on this big day.”

Olivia and Bianca wanted reactions to Chapter 13. And I was freaking out during the entire thing, but have my final reaction. Also ignore how my accent gets more and more Scottish as it goes on. And my hair is being weird o I know.
