"what if" the gnosia looked like ingame
With the anime being concluded I was thinking about rating the game characters vs the anime characters.
Because the characters that were the most enjoyable in the game aren't the same characters that I liked throughout the show the most. I was wondering if others who played the game and watched the show felt similar about this. For reference my game top 3 are: Sha-Ming, Yuriko and SQ while my anime top 3 are: SQ, Raqio and Gina
Did you end up having different favourites in the Gnosia anime compared to the game?
Yes
No
Thank you for all the votes! I suppose I don't have anything more interesting to add but it ended up being split rather evenly.
I prefer the game appearances of every character more, but I do think the anime added some neat extra content to some. Or ended up making them more dislikeable in my eye haha

Can I just say how crazy it is that we only got to see Yuri playing as a Gnosia ONCE in the entire anime....
I'm assuming we won't see normal discussions in the epilogue again
I really wanna know what happend during the production of the GNOSIA anime. It's such a mess I'm really baffled by some of the choices they made here.
Oh well 3 more episodes to go?
I'm sorry for game setsu fans, my heart goes out to you
even if everything thats past ep16 of GNOSIA is a complete clusterfuck - I'm so happy the anime is finally doing its own thing now.
That is what I wanted to see from the get go. Not lame versions of the gameplay loop. Not game events but worse. Make something transformative with the source material!
Do you plan to make edits of the other Gnosia during the warp, specifically Gina and Otome during episode 12?
nah, sorry
About the anime adaptation...
One major issue I keep coming back to while I'm discussing GNOSIA the game vs GNOSIA the anime is that I adore GNOSIA *because* it is a videogame.
The gameplay and the story work together and enhance each other, in a way I haven't seen done before. I would argue most of the characterization in the game happens throughout the rounds of werewolf we play together with these characters. And I think it would be dismissive to discuss the characters of GNOSIA without taking into account their Player Archetypes and ingame behavior and dialogue. Something the anime is crucially missing. Their bits of backstory give more context but the majority of time, within an average playthrough, is spent on the werewolf simulation and not on story events.
GNOSIA never had my favourite story, it's not even my favourite "timeloop-vn story". (It has a lot of issues with just vaguely gesturing at a lot of themes but never actually exploring most of them for example). But when I am immersing myself in the game, the magic happens. Once you accept the rules of the simulation these characters can surprise you, make you laugh or get mad at them through their AI behaviors.
Events work well because they break the mold or add tension and attachment to certain characters through win conditions (for example surviving with someone until the end).
With all of this said adapting this werewolf-simulation game into a linear story was always a tall order. But I really wish the anime would have been able to find its own identity. I personally think a more loose adaption would have been more favorable. It's not all bad of course but as it is now it just feels like "the game but worse" to me.
GNOSIA is a flawed, but a work I hold dearly in my heart. And a lot of the flaws the anime has are actually flaws the game has too! They just end up feeling way worse in the anime because it's missing the gameplay component. (The anime attempts to recreate gameplay loops but these are 1. not the same thing as playing through a game yourself and 2. manage to constantly fall flat due to bad logic and bogus resolutions.) And I personally don't think it's doing a great job in filling in the gaps. At the end of the day its not that serious its just a game/show. I like criticising things and taking them apart a bit. These are just my thoughts, more power to you if you like the anime!
i have been a fan of sha-ming for years but hes really just a different character in the anime now. im slightly upset about that.
I also think constantly trying to justify and "oh hes just such a nice guy" his actions has bad implications
will probably do a big writeup on my thoughts once the anime us finished.

I waited until episode 3 wraps up to see if it gets any better but yeah I'm not a fan of the gnosia anime, sorry folks. I don't think I would be watching this if I wasn't a huge fan of the game.
After seeing episode 7 and 8 the anime is starting to be more enjoyable to me.
I think sticking that closely to the game isn't doing it any good and I want to see more different interpretations of the games events.
Episodes that focus more on drama and character moments def work better than episodes focusing on the werewolf game, since the anime tends to constantly trip over its own feet logic wise.
Also it helps that my guy Sha-Ming is finally on the screen.
and episode 9 was not great! very sad

the anime keeps using werewolf images to symbolize the gnosia
why not make them actual werewolves, stop being cowards 🐺🐺🐺🌕
