We read that ancient mariners struggling against the strong southbound surface current of the Bosphorus would drop clay pots on lines to catch a ride on some of the cold water moving north in the deep. Having done it once with a diesel motor it's easy to understand why. We'll probably swipe one of these next time we head up to the Black Sea.
