Will: How far does your power go?
Anemortius: Elaborate, please.
Will: It's kinda hard to explain. But do you take care of all the cells in the Milky Way? Or does it go beyond that? Like the galaxy Andromeda?
Anemortius: It spans across our entire universe. I've only seen a few other versions of the God of Cells. All of them were weird.
Will: Wait, other versions?
Anemortius: Each universe is a replica of ours. It's neat how space and time work.
Author's note: This is from my story series The Beginners! I'm not even done with the first chapter of the first book because I honestly don't know what I'm doing.
Will Erikson is a transmasc demigod from Finland who is a vessel for the God of Death. He's also part of the very large group called the Guardians. However, he sticks with his main group, the Creator Guardians.
Anemortius is the King of the Gods and is also the God of Cells (body cells, skin, blood, everything inside of living things). He's responsible for evolution, etc.
CW: PTSD, post-traumatic events, death, gore, and violence towards teenagers.
RAINE'S POV:
I sent an arrow flying through the air. Then I imagined Altan shooting the arrow. I grunted in frustration when it landed slightly off-center of the red circle. That was somehow worse than the arrow just flying into the woods. I felt a tug in my throat as I let go of another arrow. It was even closer to the center. I tried to grab another arrow, but I was out.
I stared at the bow. It looked nearly identical to Altan's low-quality bow from Amazon. Once again, I saw him shooting at our target practice, right where I was standing right now. I remembered his perfect aim, and then he brushed it off as no big deal. I remember the time when he said he had to be better. That wasn't true at all.
And then I started to remember the hurt of his death that it caused. It ripped through everyone like a tidal wave. His brother, the one who looked up to him even more than I did. I'd never seen anyone so broken before. Bilguun held onto Altan for nearly two hours with a crushed and mauled leg. He couldn't care less.
I remembered how hysterical I was. Or... I wasn't hysterical. I tried to disconnect myself from reality. But it was too much to handle. Altan's lifeless eyes seemed to burn into my memory, the pool of blood that soaked his body, the coldness that replaced his blinding warmth, the silence that fell upon everyone.
When my memories stopped flooding my mind, I found myself on the ground sobbing. It was all just too much to handle.....

One more thing: I haven't figured out the entire plot, so this could change in the final draft, idk tho.
All of this time, I thought she would just be lying in the forest, maybe buried if she was murdered. But I would've never imagined anyone could end up like... this. The image kept replaying like a broken record in my mind as we sprinted away. Her pink, 2000s Juicy brand sweatpants set almost turned brown and red, torn apart because of the extra limbs and body parts that were sprouting. She was at the top of a pile of other bodies. Discarded like garbage in a junkyard. Her face was misshapen like a child playing with clay. Other eyes were growing from her eyes. Bloody liquid ran down her face from whatever spot on whichever part of the face could. Teeth and bones seemed to be overflowing underneath her skin. Some even got out, tearing her flesh apart.
That was not Lois. It couldn't have been.
When we finally reached far away, I collapsed and leaned on a tree, then vomited. My stomach felt like it was contorting itself to spit out whatever was left. I burst into screaming and sobbing her name. Heyoka ran over to comfort me. My vision blurred along with everything else; I couldn't hear anything the group was saying. I clearly wasn't the first priority here. Probably never will be because of what we're facing.
