Just in case anyone cares, or takes that post seriously, here is a post addressing what happened in more detail, just to clear the air. It’s under a cut because it is lengthy. This is not a callout post, it is simply a clarifying post. Please leave the user alone.
Tumblr user blasster is kin with Qui Gon, joined the server, and talked about how much he loves General Grievous. Another server member who is Maul stated that he doesn’t like Grievous because he destroyed his entire species (genocide) and murdered his mother right in front of him, among other things. This was part of a friendly conversation between everyone, and there were jokes exchanged. It was not hostile and was fine.
Then today, over a week later, blasster vagued about Maul in-chat and said that he “saw some Grievous hate” and said “it’s valid to hold grudges, but not character bashing,” and if he held grudges he “probably wouldn’t even be in this server.”
I responded to blasster to say that Maul was welcome to express his opinions about General Grievous, because Grievous had done some horrible things to him. I said that this is not a fandom server, and if someone has a problem with a person who did something bad to them, it should be respected, even if you personally like them as a “character.”
Maul also responded to blasster, explaining that he had no character hate for Grievous, nor had he posted any, but had kin-related issues because of the terrible things Grievous did to Maul personally. Maul also said that he was abducted by Sidious as an infant and was coerced into killing Qui Gon and that it shouldn’t have happened.
The Qui Gon then @ ed Maul directly, and said he hated him (in the screenshot I posted) with every fiber of his being, asking if Maul was okay with that. Naturally we all told him not to say that, and I said (direct quote) “grievous isn’t here you fucking moron.” After that, I asked the Qui Gon to leave, which he did after saying he “didn’t really hate Maul.”
To make sure this is understood, we have no members who are kin with General Grievous in the chat. If we did, we would ask members not to express negative things about him as if he were not there. However, expressing any opinion or kin-related issues one has with someone who isn’t there is fair game. This is a kin server after all.
This server is perfectly tolerant of “villain” characters, and we are safe. The only character we do not allow in this server is Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine. We simply just do not tolerate members @ ing other members and saying they hate them, which is. Fair of us. We don’t tolerate people who don’t respect other people’s feelings, or any kin-related issues anyone may have. We never told blasster (or anyone else) that he could not say he loved Grievous. We simply asked that he respect that not everyone does.
Screenshots of the incident can be provided for proof if anyone wants them, but we have no need to talk about the incident further beyond that, and are putting this behind us now.
