“And then, plate shopping?” His tone is open, the hopefulness as clear as a day in mid-August - vibrant and warm. “Plate… date?” A bit of silliness to lighten the mood along with one very gummy smile that he knows gets a 99.9% rate of return.
uui looks so unsure of whether kihyun’s flirting with him or not (spoiler alert: he is) that kihyun’s almost tempted to tell him straightforward that he plans on continuing doing so. but he thinks it would be a shame to lessen the time he gets to see wide eyes, poppy brightness splashed colour on his cheeks, stuttering words and fumbling fingers with every word. it’s a picture too endearing to let go of and he knows it’s a little mean to pull uui on like this yet he’s selfish and wants to keep this look only for himself.
they’ve only seen so much of each other, it dawns on him, in those dimly lit clubs with mutual friends that are throwing up, when they’d send each other pitiful ‘wow, you too?’ looks and when they’d awkwardly greet the other upon meeting them outside of their respective friendship groups. kihyun doesn’t know where he gets the courage to suddenly be so daring and upfront. he’s glad, in a way, for he’s unsure of when it’ll come again.
his eyebrows arch up neatly in surprise at the cake that’s nudged his way and he doesn’t think he’s ever been able to give himself the luxury of eating so much dessert. (apparently, when you’re a law student, you’re perpetually broke even if your so called family keeps your bank account loaded.) it’s too late to decline, so he offers a grin as a thank you, fork digging into another cake.
he’s so hopeful, so bright that kihyun finds himself laughing, slapping a hand over his mouth to contain the sharp sound. he pops his mouth off the fork, setting it down on the plate as though he’s actually thinking about it instead of already having agreed. “i’d love to go plate shopping with you,” he replies honestly, carelessly, “date. a date it is.”
