I can feel Peeta press his forehead into my temple and he asks, "So now that you've got me, what are you going to do with me?"
I turn in to him. "Put you somewhere you can't get hurt."

a thing that i particularly love about the hunger games prequels is how it shows that people have been fighting against the games since their inception
when i was younger and read the original trilogy for the first time i was so bothered how it was 74 years of games, i remember thinking how could it have gone on so long without anyone doing anything
these prequels highlight that people have been fighting from the get-go: lucy gray's defiance, reaper ripping down panem's flags to cover the fallen tributes, haymitch's games and how many others shared his ideologies - the capitol just drowns them out, they rewrite their stories so their efforts are forgotten
liberation takes time and it's built upon the actions of those in the past
Victors
Just finished reading the Hunger games trilogy.
I wanted to capture the book versions, but the film adaptations still have an iron grip on me, so you might see some similarities
3 apples tall.. hopefully nothing will happen to them
i am going to shout this from the rooftops:
Katniss, Haymitch, and the Seam inhabitants are all described as olive-skinned, brown-eyed (edit: and gray-eyed), and dark-haired.
Peeta, Maysilee, Katnissâ mother and the Merchants are largely described as blond haired, blue eyed, light-skinned.
The Hunger Games adaptations have a huge weakness to their casting because they allowed their white audience to overlook this very important fact, that the Mockingjay is a brown girl, that her mother was disowned for having a mixed-race and mixed-class marriage, that Katniss and Haymitch were long shots not just because theyâre Seam but because they are brown⊠because the only brown characters in the movies (i.e. Rue, Thresh, 11 in general) were there to be tragic, not to be saviors.
Katniss Everdeen is brown, and I wonât forgive or forget the movies for erasing that part of her character.
this has been another tea time with hawk âïžđŠ
The thing about Peeta is that he gave Katniss an out multiple times throughout the series.
He offered to die in their first games. He undid his bandage on his bleeding leg and literally said âItâs what I wantâ
In the Quarter Quell he volunteered so that he could protect her and guarantee her survival and gave his blessing for her to move on.
In Mockingjay he asks someone in Squad 451 to kill him and in the tunnels he asked to be left behind and die.
He repeatedly gave Katniss the opportunity to let him go and love someone else but Katniss refused. She refused each time because she canât live without him. She loves him, it was always him.
This is why Peeta volunteering in the Quarter Quell was so underrated. Had he let Haymitch go, hoping that their month of career training would be sufficient to win, he would have learned about the rebellion early on and would have been on the ship to district 13. But he volunteered, volunteered because as far as he knew, if she somehow won, she would be forced to be in love with him, and he didn't want that.
