my personal hc is that at least part of why mel doesn't drink is bc she feels like it would impair her ability to take care of becca in case of emergency, so maybe since she feels like becca's pushing her away and doesn't need her anymore she'd be like "fuck it i'll drink tonight" when she's out with trinity. and then trinity orders her some fruity thing that barely even tastes like alcohol and she loves it

Thinking about the Santos and Mel scene at the end of the finale. Thinking about how they are at karaoke acting like carefree kids. Thinking about how they both had their childhoods stolen from them. How Santos’ abuse took that from her. How Mel has had to be an adult and a parental figure to her sister since her parents died, how even before that she was likely expected to be responsible for her sister in some capacity. How neither of them had a childhood of carefree joy but they’re taking that for themselves now.
